Had a big vanilla colored truck with frozen food on it. We were kinda poor growing up but every now and again my parents would let us get frozen chicken tenders and ice cream from them.

The chicken tenders at Alex Box taste exactly like the ones we'd get back in the day. Jogged my memory. Man, to be a kid again waiting on the Schwan man.....

Schwan's food products were pretty good, if a bit overpriced.

I liked the ice cream as a kid, but I think it was the novelty of someone delivering a bucket of ice cream vs actual taste.

That was totally the reason. Same with the tenders. In our neighborhood, you were so cool if you got stuff from the Schwan man.

Didn't they have those deep-dish sort of personal pizzas?

I haven't thought about Schwans for a decade, at least

They are still around.

I know we still get their little magazine menus in The Woodland's and Spring outside of Houston. But i personally haven't had Schwann's since I was a kid.

We had a guy that came to the office at my previous job. He would leave an order form and people would fill it out. Secretary would scan and email it to them. He'd show up the next week with everyone's orders. I did it a few times just to see how it was. Decent food, maybe overpriced on some items, but not too bad.
