But still has their shite together? I was just thinking I do not know a single person who plays guitar recreationally that has their shite together. I played guitar but then I quit doing drugs, started drinking, got a decent job, and quit playing.

I just asked an old roomie if he still played. He said he sold his guitar to buy a laptop when he went back to school. The anecdotal evidence is strong.

Almost 40 with a wife, two kids and a good job. I bought an acoustic just after Christmas and trying to teach myself how to play.

Terrible post. I know a large number of successful people who play guitar.

I play bass. I’d say I got my shite pretty well under control.

But do they play it well or do they just break it out and play G C and D after Nance makes them light up the fire pit and they want to frick when she gets wine drunk

I play drum set... haven’t played recently Bc I don’t have room to put it. Wanna sell it and get an electric set.

Anyone with a good life will probably make shitty music. I remember when Scott Weiland cleaned up for a time and got married....that STP album was awful.

Much like stand up comedy, you need some level of turmoil in your life to make good music.

I may not have my shite together right now, but I was pretty well together for several years while I was gigging on guitar consistently. I like to think of this as a temporary speed bump...I hope.

I've got a Yamaha DTX402K, definitely go for it. It's a lot of fun to play without ever having to worry about bothering neighbors.

I just dropped over $200 on one pedal for my electric.

I'm about to shell out a few score extra to snag a wireless system so I can run around the stage. I have a couple more gear purchases planned for the next few months as well as a recording budget to put together.

If you want to be poor, being a musician is a great way to go about it.

In case you're wondering, I sound like this:

The band I'm in sounds like this now that I'm not the lead singer:
