I believe that's the longest way from anywhere else I've been to in this state.

Never even heard of that place before I looked it up just now. That place is in the middle of fricking nowhere. Looks like a nice little town.

The lake is beautiful. The town sucks. That whole corner of the state is crop land. Cotton pickers everywhere you look.

Melville is criminally underrated as the poorest town in the state

Used to drive through there from Ruston to Baton Rouge. Pretty lake, nice camp houses. Always figured it was a hidden gem. At least it was nicer than Transylvania.

One of my high school buddies grand parents lived on the lake. Retired judge, great people. Definitely a town of extremes. We ran roughshod all over that place.

You know you’re in a small town when the fuel and bait shop on the lake still has store credit accounts

You sure you're not thinking of someplace else? That would be at least 100 miles out of your way.

You went from Ruston to BR and went through Lake Providence?
Were you using GPS?

Seems improbable considering LP is nowhere close to I-20

A kid from Lake Providence was at the other end of the hall in my freshman dorm at LSU. Chinese dude whose parents fled after the communists took over and landed in Lake Providence, of all places. The family ran a grocery store. I never got to talk to him much but I bet he had some stories.

My ex’s (no pics) grandparents had a spot up there. Either you had money and had house on lake, or below poverty line
