I am a direct descendant of a veteran of the Battle of Cowpens and the Battle of Kings Mountain. I'm unsure if he met Mel Gibson at the Cowpens.

My step grandmother is a direct descendant of George Pickett. She has some of his things on display in her barn. It’s pretty cool.

Original ol baw came with his son from Ireland. They were educated in England and had land Giant's Causeway, Ireland. Something must have happened because they then came over the US. They came over and landed in Maryland, where they soon joined the militia. The father became an officer, eventually attaining the rank of Captain.
After fighting in the war, they earned or bought land in Mississippi (the details on how they got the land are a little murky) They owned a plantation.... that's all i'll say about that....
Their descendants then fought against the North in the Civil war.

Me.
On my father's side, my Great Grandfather and G-G Grandfather (his father in law) both died and were buried at Shiloh. They were Union soldiers from Kentucky.
My maternal grandparents were both grandkids of Confederate soldiers.
