I laughed. My brother told her if she had a real degree she would be buying stuff instead of counting sale racks.

My brother got hammered and started saying how hot our niece is until my sister had to outright tell him to stop, then my brother in law almost kicked his arse.

Does she have a nose ring? I am picturing her with a nose ring, and hair longer on one side.

Did it involve him being Jewish?
Yes. We are all "Baptist" but lately he's been dabbling in the Jewish religion. Something about the sheephorn getting stuck somewhere when satan was around or something. I just found the exchange between my aunt and uncle funny during the story.

No.
Sorry you have to share air with morons.

what is happening here?
It's just the dysfunctional side of the family. And my nephew capitalized on the innocence that kids exhibit at times with a super offensive comment that he didn't realize was offensive. Greatness.
The best part is, my sister and bro inlaw were arguing with each other about making him apologize, and who was going to go with him to apologize to uncle because they didn't want to get trapped with another one of his odd stories.
The entire family spends holidays treating Uncle like a hot potato and trying to get away from him because he'll corner you and not let you leave.

This is only true if you are not the alpha in the situation. If the above statement is true, then just straight up tell him to STFU and walk away. Sounds like this is what everyone in your family, including you, want to do...be the one with a pair and just do it. If this was grandma, that's one thing....have some respect and deal with it during holidays....but it's your uncle, who gives a shite.

I have an art history minor, shite was awesome and very interesting.

My uncle is the crazy Bible beater.
I had an uncle like that and he always annoyed us at family gatherings with wanting to preach and judge everyone. The worst was some of our crawfish boils down on the bayou. Everyone there was ok with drinking except for him and he would try and lecture us about going to hell because we were having a few beers with our crawfish.
Eventually when one of his young daughters got knocked up at a young age he started to back off and let people be.

Thanks for your input but I'll handle my family affairs as I see fit. Is that an alpha enough response for you?

I got drunk Saturday and make a really inappropriate joke involving blowjobs and pop rocks directed towards the the in-laws. Other than that it was solid.

she often takes to facebook to complain about there not being enough women in the STEM fields. uhhhhh.....nothing stopped her from trying to make a difference herself.

You're right, it probably is best to just continue letting your husband handle things, and you just keep on talking about it on the internet.

I don’t get why the mouth breathing Alpha dickheads think they can or need to bully their way out of every situation.
I’m sure that guy only sees thatvuncke like twice a year. Why does he need to make a scene and cause drama in the family to show how alpha and tough he is.
A real man can look at the situation and realize that ignoring him twice a year is by far the better option. If he tells the guy to STFU then he will likely have to deal with the fallout for months, possibly years.
In Your “be the hero” version of the aftermath, the rest of the family will thank him for standing up to the uncle and praise his bravery. In reality, they will all probably tell him he’s an a-hole and that he should have just ignored him like everyone else.
Basically you’re not an Alpha for being an a-hole to the guy. You’re a Beta cuz you can’t cintrol your emotions and explode on the guy like a child.

My daughter's undergrad degrees were in Art History and Studio Art so I actually know the answer.
A masters and PHD in Art History gives you a couple of paths. You can teach at a university or you can go the museum route to become a curator.
My daughter decided to get her masters in Art Education and is now a high school art teacher for Fairfax County. She'll make a nice living teaching for the county school system.
However, the undergrad degrees don't qualify someone for much of anything as the OP's cousin found out.
Good for her. That's almost as good as Arlington Public Schools.
