FWIW, I've never had any problems with AT&T anyway.

Not a dumb question. Same thing is happening to me here in Birmingham with my 225 cell number**. I'm kind of enjoying the peace and quiet, plus when folks finally get through and I get to explain the issue, it really drives home the magnitude of the stupidity of AT&T having a single point of failure that can be taken out by water. WATER, people.

**er... not that I mean your boyfriend is trying to call me... oh never mind.

I have Verizon and I can't call my parents or anyone with ATT. I have to text them to call me.

Same here. And I absolutely HATE texting but I've had to do it to get through to people. I never thought I'd see the day that I was texting customers back and forth. It's just so impersonal but I guess we have to adapt in these next few weeks.

I switched to verizon about a year ago. Glad i did.

I only stuck with ATT as long as I did bc I didn't want to give up an unlimited plan, but I couldn't make a phone call from my living room in River Ranch without calls being dropped.

Finally switched to Verizon and haven't had a single issue since.
Made calls from Tiger Stadium and could text on game days last year. Blew my mind.

AT&T has blood on their hands, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure more bodies will be found, some of which no doubt tried to call for help but had no service.

I said that two days ago. They are going to have a major class action suit.

Att has really pissed me off during all of this and the fact that even now the service is still shite is just mind boggeling.

At least when cox goes out and you call their customer service people are drastically improved and give off the impression they give a frick, that goes a long way with me when I'm mad about something, cox has been out here completely since Sunday morning and for whatever reason I don't really care because I called, they were nice and I saw the trucks in the area today. I just assume it's some big issue and they're trying hard to fix it and it'll take time.

ATT customer service seemed annoyed someone else was calling and I've seen nothing about them trying to fix whatever's wrong.

If I don't have to pay some huge fee to get out of my contracts I'll be switching to Verizon soon.

I don't see the problem with people wanting Att to do something as some sort of apology. I'm no Bernie boy either. One thing is certain, if they don't do something they are going to lose a ton of business in the BR market.

What do they want ATT to do? Nobody with ATT has even come close to using up all of their data!

How are they? Did their home end up flooding?

Their truck and trailer both were flooded. They are safe now at my aunt and uncle's house though.

AT&T should do something as an apology. People shouldn't have to pay full charges for the month of August for service they couldn't even use. I got frustrated and annoyed out here in AZ not being able to reach my family when I needed to. I can only imagine how frustrating and sometimes scary it would be to not be able to call ANYONE with your cell when a disaster such as this is going on.

I can understand frustration with att - but as some suggested to hold them liable for loss of life during a flooding event is a bit of a reach. I'm
With Verizon.

I only wish they would offer to extend data or turn off their data counters for certain zip codes.

With Cox internet out and apparently now being told up to two weeks data is going to be tough.

It's not as bad as daycare closed for god knows how long and I have to still pay them over 150 a week so I can watch my kid.

I'm going to try and switch to Verizon today or tomorrow. They're offering 650 a line to switch I believe, trying to get details from someone on their Facebook help account (on my shite data in and out att phone )

As soon as I get something I'll post it here for those interested.

I am not complaining about capitalism. Each company can do as they please. I will probably be switching from ATT to Verizon as a result of this storm. AT&T dropped the ball BIG TIME for alot of folks, and caused a major headache for alot of folks trying to track down family and get help to elderly. Verizon didnt skip a beat. Why would I pay more for a service that gives me less when I absolutely need it?

I will remain with AT&T. Same thing that happened to AT&T could have very easily happened to Verizon, plane and simple.

Not to mention I have unlimited data, talk and text. I'd be crazy to lose that.

I am at 1.8gb of 5 in 5 days. Of which I didn't have service for 2 days.

Nobody here has internet at home for the foreseeable future. I come to TD for news as well because the lack of data sucking videos here.
