I haven’t checked in a couple years but Sam’s Club Tire Centers used to provide the part and labor for $45 a tire .

you need the programmer to sync them
No necessarily; check your owner's manual. My 08 Silverado has a reset sequence that involves various unassociated switches (parking brake, key fob, left foot in, left foot out, etc.).

It’s a cheap easy money maker for the dealerships and tire shop. You don’t have to completely remove the tire, just be able to get to the valve stem inside the rim. I had one go bad on my 19 150 and I turned the whole system off.

I hear you, but its a cheap replacement and its not 2 hours worth of labor.
Ive had them come unsynced and drove up tot he dealership to be reprogrammed, takes like 45 seconds.
Problem is, when the battery dies on them, which is where im at. I understand i have to pay, but im not paying the cost of a tire for a 15 dollar sensor. They dont harge that kind of labor to patch a tire.
They buy them, install them yourself, and either figure out how to program them or take it to a mechanic or dealer to do it. They're likely to charge for syncing.
Or pay what everyone charges to do the whole job.
Or wait until you buy new tires and negotiate since they already have the wheels off.

Sounds like an OT side gig!
Buy a tire machine and charge people $15 a tire. You would literally print money at that rate. Unlike the people gouging. There’s nothing to it, zero chance of breaking or damaging anything and the machine literally does all the work

In Knoxville TN about five years ago, we took the car to our local car repair place.
Our sensor was ok, but the key word was, "They re-educated it" for $20 and it's been fine ever since.
Maybe call around about re=educating your tire sensors would be worth the effort?+

Sam’s Club does it for a reasonable price. Or at least they did a couple years ago.

50 bucks a piece at Zim's in Prairieville

Its not the cost of the sensor, it's the labor. They have to take the tires off, replace the sensor, then program them.
And the lift time. Using the lift for this job means telling someone else that if they ask for another service, it will be later getting done. They factor in the cost of the lift time/loss of potential income as part of the cost of the job so that it makes sense to offer the service instead of not offering that service and only targeting high profit jobs.

Hell yes. And grow your business by buying a code scanner that tells you what part needs to be replaced. All while being a "good guy" by not charging like those other ripoffs who think the general public is suppose to pay the mechanic's grocery bill.

Getting them reprogrammed and getting them replaced are two different things.

But at what point do you do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around? Because you know, “that’s what it’s all about”.

lol, no.
And, even if so, I'd rather pay $500 to have something fixed than $199 for some oil monkey to throw parts at it 3 different times.

I just had this done…3 sensors replaced…just under $300.00.
