I would get some samples of bottled ink to see what you like. Personally I like Iroshizuku, Monteverde, and Diamine inks, they behave well in all of my pens. Online retailers Goulet Pens and Vanness will let you get sample sizes (2-3 ml) of just about any ink.

Is it color or viscosity that is difference maker?

I think it’s viscosity. I keep a few Lamy Safaris that I dedicate to sparkly inks, so I’m not heartbroken if they get hopelessly clogged.

If you're in sales, you always have a pen on you for the customer to use to sign his contract. Might as well carry something nice. Even though I no longer work in sales, I currently carry one of these because I love the way Parker pens write.

Going to buy converter to use bottle ink.
I didn't know they made a convertor for those pens. Ignorance of the larger pen game on my part.
For me drawing up the ink is just part of the process I find enjoyable, similar to winding a manual movement. While I enjoy both others may think of them as a PITA. There is a whole world of ink out there and I have never heard any pen person say Montblanc was their favorite but I am an if it ain't broke person plus I think the monolithic line of different Montblanc inks looks cool on my desk. I go to the trouble to remove the labels which makes them present much nicer IMO. I wish they put the labels on the bottom.
I like the elongated 2-compartment Montblanc ink bottles on the occasion I have gotten one of their square bottles like the Enzo Ferrari purple I transfer it to an empty elongated well. I could do this with other brands ink but I am stuck in my ways.

I use a Lamy 2000 as my daily writer. It’s a phenomenal pen, smooth, and the nib doesn’t scratch the paper. Waterman Blue/Black ink seems to be my favorite right now.

they have erasable highlighters too
Do they erase everything or just the highlighted portion?

I mean, sex is great and all. And I like watching my kids on Christmas morning, but do you know the feeling of a rollerball on a fresh white sheet?

Parker Jotter is a great pen.

In the super cheap range, I like Pilot Metropolitan + their v5 rollerball refills. Nothing wrong with the Jotter at all.
I bought a set for $40 of Parker IM (rollerball + ballpoint) and Urban (same). It was my intro into pens. Two went to my wife, two to me. 5 years later I can account for one of the two, so my rule to myself was that I’m not buying anything “nicer” if I can’t keep track of those two over that time.
I really want a Lamy 2000 multicolor (not for truly crazy colors, but blue and black in one pen), but I prefer rollerball and don’t want to spend $80 on something I will lose.

You must first define “love”.

I have a Montblanc that I've never used. I have aniother nice pen that I think is in a drawer somewhere, I think it's a silver Cross pen. Both were were gifts. I use disposable pens for all my stuff.
