Any of you taken the LSU-S online MBA

Sounds like it’s inexpensive and can be done in as little as 10 months. I’ve got the time to do it and I do really well with minimal effort currently getting a BA online. Any of you over achievers done your MBA through LSU-S?

Did it a couple of years ago in 10 months. Good program for the cost as other similiar programs run twice or three times as much.
A lot of very late nights and no weekends for the 10 months. I was miserable in months 8,9, and 10. I could have scaled back to the 24-month track but decided 10 months of shite was better than 24 months of 3/4ths of the shite.
I worked a full-time job at the time and have two younger kids and a wife that worked full-time as well. It's all about time management. I can't say that the material was terribly tough, but you do have to self-teach a little bit. I had no background in business or finance (Science major/English major undergrad) prior to enrolling and made almost all A's.
I don't think the program improved my business acumen per se, but it definitely opened more doors in my field and moved me up a rung in the employee attractiveness pool.

Check the Money Talk Board. There was previously a post with thousands of posts from multiple posters who completed it.

The MBA and MHA both cost the same, I bet there isn't much difference. My employer has expressed interest in paying for an MHA but I don't know if one would be better than the other. I am not ready to commit the time, but in a couple of years I might.

Are MBAs really worth the time or money?

Depends on what you do.

There’s a massive thread on money board about it

Only if you’re going to an elite like top 5 MBA program, or if your company is guaranteeing you a nice promotion upon completion of an MBA, or if your company is paying for it

For my field a masters is required to fill certain positions because it is required by our certification board. They lean towards an MHA but any masters would work.

Yes or no depending upon quality of program and circumstances prior to attending.

A coworker’s husband did it and recommends it. It was inexpensive, and he was able to work full time while working on his coursework in evenings.

This board debunked that shite about 20 minutes after it was posted the first time

My wife currently. Every time she has Moodle open I think it’s TigerDroppings.

Depends on your field and if you want to go into management. It wouldn't help me at all

I’m doing it right now

It’s field dependent. In my field, I needed it to gain access to a higher tier of employment, as it was a requirement for certain positions.

May be an antiquated opinion, but I think the preponderance of online MBA programs is watering down the value. In person programs (full or part time) still provide additional value wrt team and interpersonal communication. I also don't buy the time management issue - I know plenty of people who worked full time with a working spouse that completed part time programs. If your in an area that doesn't have access to MBA programs locally, I get it. Otherwise it may come across as cutting corners (especially something like the Univ of Phoenix).

I struggle with guessing how you do a full course load and a thesis in 10 months

I should’ve prefaced this as school started as a way to advance my career and it quickly became something of a therapy tool and more of a hobby. There’s something about defined expectations that can be completed on my own that does something good for my psyche. I make a damn good living offshore, and I’ve found that I really prefer projects over operations. I could get into a project team but there would be no room for growth without some education. Most members of leadership in this line of work are engineers, so I feel like having something different might give me a leg up when I transition to projects.
