I was just accepted into a graduate school there. I’m from Mississippi, and don’t really know anything about Springfield at all. Is it a cool place to live? :inb4itsbetterthanMississippi:

Springfield is a fine small city it has several Colleges so there is a young dynamic. There are a few local hotspots that have live music and entertainment
The crime rate is not bad some rural meth users but not a lot of violent crime
The best feature is the abundance of outdoor activities rivers, forests and some nearby lakes

My uncle lives in St. Robert, which is about an hour away. I love going visit. We typically go to Springfield or St. Louis. I wouldn't hesitate to live there.

Springfield is a nice easy small biggish town. Lots of food, in the ozarks, pretty decent people. Crime has been on the rise the last few years, but nothing too crazy compared to towns of its size.

Mother's Brewery is solid. Some decent restaurants. The St. Louis Cardinals minor league AA team plays there. It's a nice place to catch a game.

Springfield is very underrated place to visit/live in the State.

Bass Pro shop is a must see. They continue to expand and bring in more stuff to see.

Springfield Cardinals also are a good time during the Summer.

Springfield is a fine town. Close to a lot of nature things. Visit the Bass Pro museum. It is awesome. Eat at Flame steakhouse. Pretty good place.

I was about to give you all the answers, but then I noticed you said Missouri and not Illinois.

I know nothing. Sorry.

It's nothing crazy special but it's a fine place to live. Missouri State is a bigger college than people realize so nightlife is good. There's some good food and a decent amount of things to do. Parts of town that aren't great but as someone else said it's more meth than crazy violence. I grew up near Springfield and ended up going to grad school around there too so you can message me if you have any more specific questions.

I've traveled from there down into Arkansas, and it kinda sucks. It's middle of nowhere and it feels really spread out with not much around it in terms of other towns.

I was over a Pipeline project that had multiple sites along I44 from Joplin all the way to damn near St. Louis. Springfield was our base of operations so I know a shite ton about it. It’s a cool town. Bass Pro Shops is there. Several colleges as I guess you are aware. Not really sure what info you need.

Also lots and lots of homeless. They are everywhere.

Seems to be the case in almost every decent sized city now.
