However, consider Tiger Mike - a habitat is his natural terrain. He'd probably die or be killed if you 'returned' him to the wild.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen that gay tiger. Might as well be back in the wild.

My grandfather had 2 chimpanzees back in the early 70's. He was the only one that could be around them, they would attack anyone else.

People don’t realize how powerful a chimp is.

If they want to they will frick you up.

When I was younger I stumbled upon an exotics farm out in the country that had serval cats.

Always wanted one but my research showed it to be a bad idea. They look awesome though.

I did once own a Blue Eyed Pleco. Which nearly went extinct until a group of fish breeders did a worldwide project to save the species.

I was informed the other day by neighbor that we have a tarantula migration thru the area. Haven’t seen any yet and I’ve let the neighbors know if my house is on fire to let it burn, there’s one in there I can’t find.

I wanted to catch my own out here (that's how I got the scorpion I had).
everyone tells me they're everywhere, but I haven't seen one yet.

I’ve never owned one, but in high school I used to get the tarantula out and have her crawl on my arms and desk. Everybody always gave all their attention to the snake and gecko so I felt sorry for poor Loretta. At least she got to explore some.

My youngest daughter had a bearded dragon for about a year and a half. He was actually fairly easy to take care of and liked to sit in your lap. Also had to feed him live crickets about once a week. It was pretty awesome to dump them in the terrarium and watch him go after them.

My mom swears her dad brought home wolf cubs to their farm when she was little in southwest Arkansas.

Mom was born in 49. I explained that the last red wolves were killed in Arkansas by then, but she and her sisters are adamant.

Check out jumping spiders. I used to have an irrational fear of spiders until those little guys warmed me up to them. Now I don’t really mind spiders, but big ones still creep me out. Just a bit less.

And for the thread? Not really exotics but I had a lot of various lizards growing up. Had a bearded dragon that would sleep on my pillow while I watched tv as a kid.

He didn't come from the wild. He was born of an accidental breeding at a big cat reserve in Florida. Mike has always been fed and confined. He couldn't survive in the wild.

Always wanted a saltwater aquarium but have heard they are a royal pain in the arse.

Is it a daily maintenance deal?

Depends on how you want to do it.

I test water on Mondays (about 1 hour)

Fridays I clean glass, change filter floss, skimmer, etc. About 1 hour.

Every other week I do a water change and combine that with my cleaning on Friday, about 2 hours.

Feed daily.

Twice a year I clean sump out, clean equipment, etc. Little over half day of work.

I also make my own food (couple of hours every 3 months or so.
