Sambo's

When I was a kid we took car vacations. Sometimes we camped, sometimes we stayed in a hotel, but we always ate at Sambo’s. Pancakes with tiger butter, and a sad little sprig of fresh parsley.

It’s funny the things that can spark a visual image not thought about in 40+ years.

Heard the Amputees are hoping around rioting at IHOP as well. They are demanding a name change also.

Sambo's?
I remember the one on the beach in Biloxi from when I was the teeniest of teeny tots in the late '70s. We passed by it a number of times, but we never went in.

Apparently there was one on Acadian in BR as late as the '80s ('90s?), but for some reason I have absolutely no memory of this.

FWIW, there is still one Sambo's left, in Santa Barbara of all places (the original one)

So anything associated with rural America or country folk is racist?

It’ll probably catch some comments from the other side... much like things associated with inner city black culture likely catches some comments from a lot of rural folks.

Bean Pot is still a restaurant just off I-40 between Knoxville and Nashville, on the eastern side of the Plateau.
