To be fair, I know many female doctors that have families and are still able to balance work and family life. It is possible to have a job like that and still be a good wife and mother. I could never be a housewife, I would always want to be able to care for myself financially. However, my job isn't my life and while it's important to me, I know how to prioritize the things that are more important to me(my husband for example).

Marry her, but don't sign a pre-nup. That way, when ya'll divorce, you get half of what she's saved/invested/purchased throughout the years.

Sounds like you're a slacker, so heed my advice.

Nurse, my wife was 36 when she had our daughter. It took us a while to get pregnant.

In all seriousness, I'll share what worked, but not on here.

Best of luck.

Thanks Vette

It's a situation where I just have to rely on my faith at this point and just know that things are gonna work out the way they are supposed to.

There are only two possibilities. She's either very inconsiderate or she's leading you on.
Probably either married or has other guys she's "dating".
Get rid of her.

I agree....female docs can do it very well. But the ones I know waited until after residency to start a family, which was around age 30 or later. So you can say they were "committed to their career" throughout their 20's. Again, the OP hasn't told us the age of this gal.

About your baby.......it'll happen. Relax and pray.

My wife conceived at age 39 and again at 40. She was on the pill for that last one

If the sex is good, just make her a frick buddy while you keep an eye open for someone willing to take the relationship seriously (and no, if they are making it clear that their job will always come first then they aren't taking the relationship seriously).

this is fine for casual dating, but if we are "serious" I need at least a daily text so I know you're alive.

I dated a girl who never found time to text but was always posting dumb shite on facebook. Ended that mess fast.

So you say. Good friend of mine recently broke up with a chick like this. She NEVER put him or their relationship first. She is a nurse and would constantly pick up extra shifts....including on nights that he had already made plans for them(he would be on his way to pick her up and she would text him saying "sorry, gotta work tonight"). Crazy thing is this chick is like 35 and thinks she can keep acting like this. She wants kids, but not until after she is 40. She is gonna be in for a rude awakening when she is 40 and no man wants her crazy self.

Big problem with that isn't so much working. It's that he's going to start getting suspicious if she cancels too many dates.

Well there's a couple of questions.

1) Do you eventually want kids? Chances are, if she's this career oriented, she probably doesn't want kids or if she does she just wants a nanny to raise them.

2) Do you care if people compare you two career wise? It wouldn't bother me if my wife made more, but it would bother me if my wife worked more than I did.

You're gonna be constantly chasing her, and she's either gonna dump you because you are too needy, or start taking advantage of you.

She wants her career to be first? Fine, get rid of her and find someone who is willing to put a relationship first (or up near the top). She's not ready to be in a relationship, so don't waste your time
