The Trump/Hitler comparisons on Facebook are fantastic.

What scares me the most is that in these times of intense polarization of the parties, Trump represents nothing but extremes. If he gets elected, we will only see further division of this country's political system, and that could end up very bad.

I feel like everyone's forgetting "United we stand, divided we fall". That's scary.

Being Democrat or Republican doesn't mean you're an idiot, or that you're a bad person. It doesn't mean those that you disagree with seek to destroy this country. I think most rational people know this, but our representation in government does not, and the rhetoric that is tossed around is harmful.

I wish we could overthrow every single person in Congress and in the House and start over fresh with level-headed people who actually want to help our country get better, not line their pockets and line their special interests' pockets.

His mannerisms somewhat resemble Mussolini. The Hitler comparisons are kind of lazy.

No more stupid than the shite you say. It's the same ignorance, but It's just rationalized from different sides.

I mean, I say my fair share of stupid shite, but what did I say in this thread?

You would have to change the entire structure of our democracy. Before that, you would have to change our culture.

Our democracy is designed to allow the most initiated, most powerful minority groups to dictate policy. That's not a guess. It was freaking told to us in the Federalist Papers.

Most people are single-issue voters. They vote to their interest.

It's tough to come together to serve the public good when the very purpose of our government is to reward selfishness.

ETA: And I'm using the term "democracy" very loosely just in case Antonio Moss is reading.

No, I was saying that regardless of that poster's condescending statement, he's still no more intelligent than I am.

I don't think this will be the case. I think Trump has run a very polarizing campaign thus far because that is what was necessary to have a chance at the nomination (which now looks likely).

I think you will see Trump run a much more moderate campaign in the general election because that is what he has to do if he wants to win. Will it be too late by that point? Idk. He may have already turned too many people off. He's a smart man. He knows he doesn't have a chance against Hillary if he can't pull a large part of the GOP voting segment.

And, if you wonder why any sane person would vote for Trump, you are witnessing it by the pussyfooting around with these a-holes.

Doesn't that make him a liar, then? Or, at least misrepresenting himself. I want someone who is consistent in their values, whether I agree with them or not. He has completely flip-flopped positions from just a few years ago, and contradicts himself all of the damn time.

Trump is especially good at doing this.

Never said I was.

Your response to videos of crowds of unruly shitheads going nuts is, "oh look, both sides are horrible." One side isn't even on the same planet as the other, yet you and others try to blur the line between the two. To anyone with eyes, that's ridiculous. That's seriously shite that 5th graders do. One side is losing their minds, you think the other side is stupid rednecks and don't like them, so you dishonestly compare them to make em seem equal. That makes you look stupid.

I really hope so. If this is all he's got, I'll be really disappointed come November. Both candidates are so unappealing right now.

People have no clue what a peaceful protest is anymore. Freedom of speech is a great thing, but this mob mentality is a completely different thing. I say at all costs, diffuse the situation, if that means people start getting cuffed, do it with force and take back the streets. Reminds me of Fergeson, the cops sat there and watched the city get set on fire because they were told to stand down. Pathetic, makes me sick.

Things are different these days. It wasn't long ago when someone was acting as an arsehole in public it was common and encouraged to punch them in the face. If someone showed up to an event in my town they were welcome to be there but if they disagreed with every single thing done there and yelled at people or was obnoxious it was common for them to get knocked out. It rarely happened because people knew you didn't show up and disrespect people or you would probably get punched.

Nowadays people feel so entitled and empowered they think they can be arseholes and it is their right to be an arsehole even at a private event they could have avoided.

I am not pro-violence and I am not voting for Trump but I do see the benefit of an arsehole getting punched in the face.

I find a lot of similarities between Obama voters and Trump voters. People are voting for a symbol, politics be damned.

By a more moderate campaign, I don't mean actually changing his platform. I simply mean scaling back in the polarizing statements. He knows that his biggest opponents question his ability to lead and be diplomatic in his relations with other world leaders. He also knows that he will need to scale back his petty attacks to do that.

Like I said, by the time the general election comes around, it may be too late. With all the media coverage in this years primaries, a lot of people are already turned off to him and have vowed not to vote for him.

However, violent protests like this and like the one in Chicago may cause people to change their minds. These protestors are doing more harm than good.

Since most candidates are not solid in their values, I find the candidate in which my values most closely align during their campaign. However, in this particular election process, Bernie Sanders not only represents a lot of ideologies that I agree with, but he has been about as consistent of a politician as there can be.
