We don't shut down driving and trucking (economy) when 35,000 people die every year. In fact you just take an easy one-time test and you are allowed to drive 70mph in a 2 ton vehicle 3ft away from each other.

There are plenty of examples of balancing risk in our everyday lives. Yet even now after we've seen the Covid mortality rate plummet, some are willing to strangle the economy.

It’s all about perspective. My aunts are trying to keep my grandma locked away but she’s like 82 years old. She wants to do things. She knows the consequences. There’s no point in her sitting inside all day being miserable only to die who knows when of anything else anyway. She may as well live up until she literally cannot. I support her. She’s sharp And informed enough to make these Choices for herself.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree, with a Minor in Biology. As part of my degree plan, I took several classes pertaining to Epidemiology, and I will not wear a mask. It is ineffective.Learn to think for yourself. Research and learn, don't listen to the crowds.
PS. This is my 1st post! Lurker for a couple of years now.

Masters... and anti mask. But, I'm old(ish) and don't relish the thought of the government mandating anything to me. Governmental overreach is seldom reversed. In other words, once the governmental hand is in the cookie jar, it never leaves said jar. It only digs deeper into it. In addition, the masks that people are are making and wearing are not effective for anything other than virtue signaling.

The mortality rate of this virus simply does not warrant the hysteria that has accompanied it, therefore I choose not to play along.

Forgive me for not believing that a little piece of spun polyester fabric will keep me safe. I'm overwhelmed at the number of people that I once thought of as having a reasonable level of intelligence that have bought into that.

Do you realize in order for PPE to work it has to be design to protect from a type of hazard, it must be cleaned regularly, it must fit probably and it must be used correctly.

If you really want to protect yourself from any virus or bacteria you will need to wear a 3M 6700 series respirator with a faceplate(or the equivalent). Viruses and/or bacteria can enter the body through the eyes. The cheap paper mask are not effective. Many of us hold multiple degrees and this mask debate is juvenile.

It's not that they don't know mask help. They understand that they do. There's actually way more beneath the surface when they say they won't wear the mask.

There is logic to flattening the curve of hospitalizations as we have a finite Humber if hospital beds, but wearing masks to slow the spread amongst people that mostly don’t go to the hospital will not help get rid of this more quickly.
The healthy population doesn’t live in a vacuum. Slowing the spread among them slows it among everyone.

By what measure? Because they didn't get every anti-masker to change their mind? I promise the education efforts led to a bigger increase than shaming ever will. Education probably led to a minimal change in behavior towards masking where as the shaming is leading to a massive push back

About 3-4 years from now no one will admit to having been pro-mask. A lot of posters' histories are going to get scrubbed of a lot of embarrassing posts.
