We sure do love our flag up here in MD so I doubt this gets any traction.

It's symmetrical but contrasting. It's a different kind of beauty, and it's got a good historical background.

I think it would be prudent to ask those complaining about a flag that they don't understand what they had in mind for a re-design. We could sit down with them and help them form a committee based on people's backgrounds and design experience.
They could brainstorm, using their collective minds to run in 70 equal directions. If they are ever able to reach a consensus, we could tell them, "Just kidding, nobody gives a frick that you are butthurt about having history that pre-dates the Civil War on our flag."
Then they could all get back to work. Those crabcakes are not going to cook themselves. And season them up some. They are kind of bland.
