I've heard and used hill and bed but I'd never heard of an ant pile until this thread. And I'm old.

I pulled up a picture of an Ant Hill on the computer screen and showed it to him. I asked him, "What's this called?" He said, "It's an ant hill." Then a prodded him, "It's not an ant pile?" And with disdain he said, "Who calls it an ant pile?"
