No, I don't. I'm sorry. I just don't see the reason why everyone has to be kept together. They're not for any other social function.

The entire motocop program in the states is garbage though. They wear garbage protection gear for the most part, their courses aren't that hard compared to what's available in the civilian world as it's a lot of parking lot drills that can easily be replicated by something like Lee Parks, a lot of them ride garbage bikes that shouldn't be used for this type of activity. At least some departments switched to more capable BMWs, but those are still heavy bikes. I'd rather see them on something light, torquey, and that's a DS setup.

It's to keep the procession together. Not everyone who goes to the funeral knows where the frick they're going, and it's better for traffic overall to keep large processions as one big vomit of people and get it through and done. It also keeps the crowd together so that they don't show up at the gravesite over the course of an hour as they find their way after getting separated from the hearse. The escort allows the procession to move through a traffic signal all at once without being broken up by cross-traffic. It's not mandatory and is generally a service that the family of the deceased pays the city/sheriff to provide, though some municipalities/parishes may provide the service free upon request.

from personnel experience, every motor cycle driver with road experience, knows that a left turning, cell phone using car/truck operator is the most hazardous situation on the road

You’re the second person to try to explain this like it’s some logical reason for why motorcycle police need to drive dangerously and close down busy intersections.
