Anonymous employer surveys

If you’ve had anonymous employer surveys in past on sensitive topics such as employee satisfaction or opinions on culture & upper management, do you fully trust that there is zero chance upper management will be able to trace back to you?
Assume that it’s via a 3rd party such as Surveymonkey or another well established brand.

Even if your boss is not data mining you, the internet is.

I treat them like they have my name on them every time.

Dear Clarence:
We know who it is by the unique url link.
We also received your comments about better quality toilet paper in the restrooms and have taken it under advisement.
Please refrain from posting on message boards on company time.
Signed,
Management

0.0% They're usually looking to thin the herd, they'd hire an outside consulting agency for gobs of money before they'd ask for your free feedback. Bro, do you even corporate?

Know a guy that got fired for putting a bunch of angry replies on one

They are not anonymous. I get the blind responses as a manager. It does not take much guess work as to who filled it out.

I liked the “input your employee id #” and all results and entries will remain anonymous

They’re always watching. Trust me.
Honestly, as an upper executive I’d like to know honest feedback, however can’t promise I won’t look past an employee with an overall negative attitude.

I never fill those because they can narrow it down to two people based on the location and department questions

That's why you fill it out like you're someone in HR, then you just sit back and watch the fireworks.

I always lied when I took these.
Once whem my manager was with me he let it slip that three people really slammed him. He said, " I know who they are and you could probably guess their names."
I could have told him who they were because I personally told them to lie.

Years ago, a talented coworker was let go 2 days after results of an "anonymous" survey were provided to management. He flamed them pretty hard and most of it was justified. He said he was careful not to include anything that would point back to him and he was a pretty smart guy so you have to wonder.
