This is as Milquetoast as the last CEO statement. It's quisling

He would've been better off just saying "My name is Brendan"

quote:
"I still have my job and we still make beer"

My name is Brendan, that much is clear,
I still have a job and we still make beer,
Some of it's awful, some is alright,
But lately the talk of the town is bud light,

As to why did we do it? The answer is "woke"
Now our can has a lady-man, Brand's going broke,
Now I hope you'll forget, and I hope this will end,
But old Dylan, like bud light, is playing pretend,

we once were the King of beers, now beer of queens,
and trannies and genderqueers, whatever that means,
If you don't like our stance, leave Bud light on the Shelf,
Because Tranheuser-Butch says to Go frick Yourself.

all the tranny part aside, they just seem to keep forgetting the part about how they insulted their customers about being fratty with out of touch humor.

I think at this point the bigger issue is that people have tried other brands and realized Bud is the worst

Yep. And it’s extremely easy to switch beers. Their competitors are sold through the same stores and often on the same shelf.

I don’t think they can recover their market position fully without completely rebranding. Unless Molson Coors does something even dumber.

honestly only mouth breathers saw the tranny on a blue can on their tickertocker feed and considered it a 'political statement'

All you had to do was listen to the marketing director's explicit plan to know it was a political statement

I don't get why they don't give the marketing vp (and/or anyone else who was heavily involved) a golden parachute with an NDA and non disparagement and say she basically went rouge and acted alone.

The main issue is why would she agree to do that? She's been scape-goated for undoubtedly doing exactly what they told her to do (perhaps not in the way they envisioned, but let there be no doubt they wanted ESG cred). For her to agree to what you propose would basically make her unemployable. They would have to basically reward her by making her massively rich to accomplish this. That said, that's probably where this is headed, and they keep heaping leverage on her.

and in trying to cater to the core customer base that you've already made angry, you insult the new customer base your stupid campaign was aimed at gaining. so, you now lose some of your core, and gain zero new customers. Congrats CEO.

Agree. The CEO is either lying outright or he needs to be fired for not understanding the shitshow he was about to have started and didn't step in and nix it. That is his job after all. Fact of the matter is, as with 99% of those entertaining the imaginations of the mentally ill, he thought they had more support than they actually do. The overwhelming minority on this issue are just louder than the majority. The media/advertising industry just happen to be completely infiltrated by that minority at the top levels of actual decision making. Their fault they are on the wrong side of history.

I think everyone has tolerated the annual rainbow beer cans during pride month. They just buy the non-rainbow ones. I guess I like under a rock, because I have never seen these.

That’s the beauty of this situation. The majority of America would love to make a visible display of their rejection of the tranny agenda. However, few want to stick their head up and make themselves a target of the woke left.

It costs every light beer drinker next to nothing to just not buy bud light and buy something else. They won’t miss bud light. The woke left can’t go out and shame every person who just doesn’t buy bud light. It’s not like the anti-trans beer drinkers have all gravitated to a specific beer that can make them a target. AB gave them all a target and a motivation to stop buying their beer and the built up frustration with the tranny agenda is going to motivate everyone to see this through until bud light is destroyed.

I do admit, I was surprised to learn that this whole Dylan Mulvaney thing wasnt even a full marketing campaign. They just sent him a can with his picture on it. No can with Dylan on it was ever put out for sale or anything like that.

It kind of makes this whole thing feel a bit overblown.

June is coming up. It will be interesting to see if maybe some companies tone the rainbow Reich down a bit this summer. It's obnoxious to a fault at this point.

They pushed too far and too hard and now they've got a poopsicle to deal with

The new puzzle that has arrived from all of this is why haven't any of their competitors showed up to bury them? Their peer group should be kicking them while they are down and robbing them of their customers. ESG is pretty powerful in that it has, apparently, frozen their competitors from capitalizing on the greatest black swan moment in this space ever.

They can’t do that. They can’t really acknowledge that an error was made. You know why. They’re in a tough spot.

I think this will have an impact on marketing in the future. Even if people do go back to buying Bud Lite, do you think anyone will want to risk the drop they just took?
