Probably because of the lack of people and the scenery.

Educated and independent people will be moving to "boring" places soon enough.

I've been to Iowa; there's nothing there.

Maybe that's why it's the best state to retire in.

I would go against montana, most expensive home prices in the country with hawaii.

Not saying its not nice, but they are factoring in affordability.

These damn lists are getting out of control.

They really are. There was one posted here a few days ago, and it tried to give an overall ranking of US states (as if such a thing is even possible). Every other sentence was about the Civil War or the so-called Civil Rights Movement. Yankees really are just batshit insane now.

Fun fact: no one died at Selma. People got sprayed with water, and a man who knocked over Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested for it. This is what Idiot Joe and his hangers-on commemorate when they walk over that stupid bridge: a fricking water balloon assault.

And the lack of services and healthcare that aging people want and need as they get closer to death.

Iowa is having serious issues with a certain demographic bleeding over from Chicago, and it’s only going to get worse.
We tend to think of Iowa as being a certain way, but supposedly a certain demo is ruining the Iowa State Fair, immortalized in a classic Will Rogers movie:

Isn’t that the town that has like 8 or 9 golf courses and it’s essentially a retirement village for swingers?

why is Alaska the worst

Morbid I would think weather and the cost of living and on other things. On one of my work trips to Alaska a customer had a hydraulic dump trailer just like mine and about the same year and he paid $8000 more for his due to shipping cost.

Moving to Utah would be my retirement choice.

… why?

Because being there is like being back in time?
