There isn't enough money on the planet that could make me do this job. Essentially you're an electrician who climbs antennas, some of them 2,000 feet above the ground, to inspect or change a light bulb.

At least they don't have to clean an anchor up there

Nothing is more terrifying than the first time you ever clean an anchor at a height that will kill you.

I don’t get the fear of heights thing.

You can fall from 100 feet and die just as easy as 3000 feet.

Makes no difference to me.

Actually I’d rather fall from 500’ than 50’ if I had a choice. At least one I know I’ll die instead of the chance to end up like OweO

No, it's going from a top rope anchor you created using your own items, to just the rope through the chains on the top or other items. When you climb, you don't want to leave your stuff at the top if you can help it (climbing shite is expensive), so you literally have to get off your rope, slide it through or around something, get back on it, and rappel down.

That's why I fear both. And it's more of a fear of landing.

Here’s another good tower climb video. Most of these tower climbers partake in gratuitous amounts of illicit substances in their off time.

That’s an odd description of cleaning an anchor, but OK. It’s never fun to untie your knot.

I had to clean an anchor and start simulclimbing a couple times going up this route:

Leader wanted the 60m rope anchors, but we didn’t have a 60m rope.

I led that 5.6 pitch. It was terrifying.

I have a sister in law whose son from her first marriage does that work out west. I'm not scared of heights when on a structure or column but those towers scare the crap out of me.

That's why I fear falling from high places. Once I get above 25-30 feet the pulse of my heart starts to quicken. You should see me while I'm climbing up the stairs on the Longstreet Tower at Gettysburg. It's a 75-foot-tall observation tower overlooking the southern end of the battlefield.

Yes and I very rarely went on hikes where heights were involved. I didn't mind climbing up Diamond Head or even Koko Head, but that was about the extent of my hikes in Hawaii. Anything with a sheer vertical drop I kinda stayed away from.

Make it about a football field’s length up and that bitch starts swaying. Worst shite is getting all the way up and realizing you forgot your screwdriver in the truck.

I haven't done a multi-pitch yet, just sport climbing single pitches or hiking to the top and building the anchors. That's the goal for this year, and there's some easy multi-pitches in CO.

I would climb that tower for fun knowing that I had a harness and that the tower itself was designed to be climbed as safely as possible.

Zero chance I would ever attempt what Gaston has pictured. Nope, nope, nope.
