Used to climb towers when I worked for PHI.
The first was in Morgan City and was only about 75 feet. I figured I might live if I fell but did not want to find out. We had NO safety devices, just a belt to fasten in when not climbing.
I climbed 2000' towers in Cameron and Venice. They paid us by the foot to go up but nothing to come down! Yes the towers swayed. Once I was up over 100' the height did not really matter. If I fell I was dead.
Something to consider, how many hands are you holding on with while climbing? Answer is only one. Better have a death grip.
The things we do when young.....

Cousin did that. He said the main thing was to have strong leg muscles. And the "rest" was leaning back in your harness. (he could have been lieing to me).

I would climb that tower for fun knowing that I had a harness and that the tower itself was designed to be climbed as safely as possible.
Might want to skip to the end of the video posted in the OP.

This video will make you sweat, they are free climbing the tower, and antenna mast without safety tie-off.

I would let her climb mine. She'd like it too...wouldn't have to worry about fear of heights.

Never thought I had a fear of heights until it was my turn to rappel off a 40' tower. My body did not like that at all.

Even if you trust your hands and feet, there's no way I would trust those bolts he's grabbing onto that have been out in the weather for however long.
There's got to be a better way.

Tower worker in FL died a few years back, he was almost to the top of a 200 foot cell tower when the weld on the rung he grabbed failed!

Posted here before but I remember watching a video of five tower climbers fall to their death lifting an antenna up an 1800 foot Houston television tower in late 1982. No way I would do that for any money.

I did some tower climbing during the summers between semesters. One of my climbing bum friends did it to pay for his climbing habit.
I was used to being 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 feet up the face of a big wall but the towers were a completely different animal. Below the antenna, you were generally climbing in a cage and I found that almost claustrophobic in a weird way. Most of the towers had a wire rope that you would attach something that looked like a Jumar ascender and you could just push it along ahead of you if you were comfortable climbing with one hand. You would have to transfer it over every couple of hundred feet while you were tied off with your rabbit ears. As you got up the tower the cage closed in and you could lean back and rest hands-free but it was tough on your instep.
The caged part of the tower is pretty stable but the antenna could be a ride. The only ones that bothered me were the antennae that were just a conical pole with nothing but hand and footholds all the way up. You put you rabbit ears on alternating sides but the carabiners were just thrown over the handholds. The handholds had a plate on the end to keep them from sliding off but there was no positive lock and if you fell in just the wrong way when only having one on a handhold you could knock it off and enjoy the gravity ride down.
The highest tower we did was just under 1,500 ft and I never climbed any towers that you climbed on the outside of the structure, oddly enough I would have been more comfortable with that. What I really hated was climbing down I would much rather have rapped down.

There’s a tall-arse tower down River Road that we climbed in college, with no safety gear. It was sketchy AF at the top.
There’s a tall power line tower where the lines cross the MS River down that road too, climbed that many times. Base of that one is sketchy. We had a gun pulled on us since we parked in the wrong spot. fricking guy has a gun pointed at me saying he’s going to call the cops...I said please call the cops, doubt they’re going to shoot me for walking down the levee. He had no idea we had just climbed that tower.
Also climbed to the tip top of the MS river bridge as well. The ladder was locked so we climbed up inside the structure then up on the outside back to the peak (I’ll never forget that part). My friend ran across the span, over the traffic, to the other side jumping over the ovals.
