An acceptable level of Covid to return to normal

as long as testing continues incidents of corona infection will be reported and folks will ask if it is safe to return to normal
I have never seen the US as adverse to risk taking as it is now and anything short of zero incidents will be cause for lawyers and protests to be outed.
but the turtle makes no progress unless it sticks its head out.
the CDC publishes a lot of data on the corona, much of which is subject to challenge based on conspiracy theory .
a CDC graph shows the weekly total of respiratory fatalities linked to the sum of pneumonia, flu, and corona deaths for the last 3 years, as a percentage of all deaths for the weeks reviewed.
the trend is very smooth varying with the seasons with the exception of a month in 2018 {viral outbreak} and the last 4 months corona. the death rate has approached normality last week about 4%, down from its peak at 26%.
As this is based on death rates, it eliminates a lot of discussion regards factual data or not.
Over the couple of weeks, CDC AND GOVT will have to turn attention to normal death rates away from numbers of tests, positives and hospitalization to be able to get to an achievable goal
I do not have an explanation for the increase in positives other than more testing occurring.
schools will open based on pneumonia, flu and Covid deaths being reduced to the seasonal norm

Well, considering Covid is getting close to not even qualifying as an epidemic according to the standards of the CDC, we have to be getting close.

29 children under 15 have died of Kung Flu since February
100 children under 15 have died of the Flu since February
Why don’t we close the schools every year from November to April?
We’re living in a clown world

I don’t care anymore
My 94 year old Grandpa doesn’t care anymore, he just wants to see his kids, grandkids & visit my Grandmas grave

Probably something like when no more Republicans are in office. That’s what the media would prefer

If we tested everyone for the flu this year/season to the same degree as we’re testing for Covid-19, half this country would go bat shite crazy at how high the numbers would be.
There’s no telling how high the number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths would be.

I think the level is acceptable to return to normal right now.

It will be over November 4th.
One way. Or the other.

Yep. If the tards in charge would have protected the nursing home folks in this country and the folks from Italy would have had their crap together, this would have been almost a nothing burger

It doesn't matter.
Some people are just either...
A) Too stupid to understand basic statistics
B) Giddy to give control to government, and get a government check.
C) too emotional to see reality
Nobody will sway to the rational side at this point.
If they don't see it by now, they never will.

For some people there never will be. Fear has become a form of virtue signaling and the left can’t get enough.

When there are not 7 Covid threads on page 1 of the OT.

You’ve never seen this US like because it hasn’t happened here like this since the 1920s. God people are stupid

The Spanish Flu killed indiscriminately, this kills the old and the morbid. We're re-shutting the economy down because young people are catching the virus doing what young people do in the summer. Hang out and pick up.

At this point being stuck in the home is a bigger negative to my grandfather's health than the possibility of COVID-19. We used to play 2 rounds of golf a week but he is just wasting away with his mental health getting worse every day.

quote:I feel for you. Same thing with my Mom. She is 85 years old and said the same thing to me a few weeks ago. "I know I am vulnerable, and I know it is dangerous. But I've been holed up in my house alone for three months now. I'd rather risk it and see all my friends and family, than live 10-20 more years isolated from the world all alone. I believe people were meant to be together."
