Had a guy in the Lafayette area when I was growing up, who had an old 70's Opel GT. I would see it in town every now and then. It was orange and we called it "the mini vette".
When I lived in Holland in the late 80's I had an 83 Opel Manta GT. It was pretty nice.

Fun fact, one of the main characters in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was named after a popular model of car in the UK, the Ford Prefect. The alien mistook it as the main form of life on earth.

I could see that view as being true in the 50's and 60's, when America truly made world class cars, but not today.
The status cars here are the same exact status cars in the USA.

We just got back from Italy and those damn vespas and mortorcycles do give a frick when driving. I was surprised how crazy the people drove, but pedestrians would just step out in front of cars and they will yield to pedestrians everywhere.

Gas prices and small streets/limited parking.

Last time I was there I also noticed of the American cars, Jeep brand (not just Wrangler) were the most common. I asked a guy I was with who was Austrian and he said it's because it's a financial flex (gas prices and import costs) and even moreso, they associate Jeep brand with classic Americana. Brought up WWII being the start of it. Sort of a novelty to it.

He did not have nice things to say about American cars being reliable or considered status symbols like a true luxury car. More like a stupid waste of money

I was in SLC in late July. I saw more hijabs in Fashion Place Mall than I do in the "Muslim" country of Bosnia.

American classic cars are big over there, Corvettes Mustangs, Camaros...they command double to triple the American market price depending on the model.

No, I didn’t not expect to see very many American cars. I just thought it would be interesting for others to get an idea of which models are in this area of Europe.

Old cities have old roads. Driving a full size truck one a daily basis is virtually impossible

fricking truth about the spray paint. The amount of graffiti in European cities is insane, if any of it was at least well done it might be ok but it's mostly garbage scribbling vomited across any convenient flat surface.

I wish we had some of the same cars sold to us, they seem to have more compact suv hatchback options.
