They actually managed to make it worse, minus the podcasts.

Nope, the shuffle is for all the music from what I see.

Just tried it on my phone. Not seeing an improvement. I’ll try it again on a bigger screen when I get home, to see if there’s anything to be happy about here or if we just got sold a bill of goods.

I've got prime.

Will I have to pay extra for this or is it already included?

Depends on how you look at it. They already jacked up the Prime price to $140/year earlier this year.

I just did a test on one of my playlists and shuffling forward just went down the line of my playlist.

This is an actual playlist I created, not a suggested/Amazon one.

But on a random album, it did the shuffle thing.

I did just "reach my limit" but I can just select the next song on the playlist.

So it sucks a bit but can be worked around, at least as of now, with your own playlists.

Dang you still have to pay for Unlimited.

What’s the good in having Unlimited if all of the music is on there anyway?

unlimited plays, you can't replay a song any longer, its random. You only skip forward, you cannot go back to rehear a song. I just created a new playlist with one song it it, when I click on it the song that plays is random, similar artist or style.

It kinda sucks. guess I'll go back to Youtube to mp3 converter....

edit. I creased a new playlist...only one song. No matter how many times I click on Latin Lingo...something different plays. Insane, then Hand on the pump...

It creates a shuffle list of similar songs and that song may come on later.
So, it's Pandora?

Shuffling everything is how Spotify Free used to be. I'm not sure when they changed, it's been a few years at least, but you can play on demand now in Spotify Free. I guess I'll be sticking with that.

Hmmm.

I will dabble later, but if this is as restrictive for EVERYTHING, then I imagine this kills Prime Music.

Who is so addicted to the Prime Music library that they'd pay for Unlimited as opposed to going to Spotify.

The other question I have is how offline/downloaded songs are dealt with. Going to test that later.

Was excited when I read the initial headline; now that I realize I can’t listen to albums, I’m literally never going to use Amazon Music going forward, I suppose outside of a podcast being ad free.

Massive, massive downgrade.

Ignoring that almost no one actually listens to album in full in a row

This isn't true

The same music catalog you can stream now is the same. It's the added songs library that you can only shuffle or listen one at a time or Pandora radio style it.

It is not a downgrade at all.

It's the same catalog with albums and play, adding other features for the rest of the catalog.

I dont use it anyways but I can read.

Everything you just said is objectively incorrect. I had full albums saved in my library that I could listen to, start to finish, yesterday. I just opened the app and can no longer listen to those albums. If I click on one, it will play a random song from that album.

The 2 million songs for free prime music isn't changing.

They are adding the ability to have some ability to listen to the 98 million other songs only on unlimited now

It's in the article in OP, the Amazon release, and every other source.

I can't speak to your organization of library

I don't care what the article says. Yesterday, I could listen to, for example, Abbey Road, from start to finish. Now, when I click on that album (whether from my library or individual searched), no matter which song I click on, it will shuffle a random song from that album. There's also a button that says "try Amazon music unlimited".

I've been using Amazon Music for years, and I'm telling you, from personal experience right this second, that albums I could listen to yesterday, start to finish, repeat, skip, whatever, no longer have that functionality. Could it be a bug they will fix? Maybe. But it's reality as of this moment.

Yes, it's definitely worse now. There were some albums that I used to be able to listen to, now if I go to play them they are shuffled and songs from other albums and other artists will play. Also, used to have unlimited skips, not the case anymore.

I guess it's somewhat "better" if you just like to listen to "stations".
