I miss Netscape. I held on to the bitter end with that one too.

Oh, wait...someone is beeping my Nextel. Gotta run.

I have a family member who started at Amazon in either 1997 or 1998. I sometimes wonder what he's worth right now.

I have a friend who was employee #7 at AOL. He cashed in and retired about 20 years ago. Made bank.

I don't understand the point of the pic in the OP.

If you want to give up, think about the founder of one of the largest companies in the world sitting in an office bigger than yours in 1999.

I mean shite in the pic looks old, but it was 1999. He was working in an office with a bad taste in decor. I don't understand this at all.

I don’t know the precise details of the circumstance, but the room in the picture is about the size of a nice walk in closet, and he’s sitting at a desk made of scrap wood.

Are we looking at the same pic?

Regardless, the hard work has undeniably paid off.

Shouldn’t that first pic say 1994 instead of 1999?
That is what my desk looked like in '99. It still does in 2018.

But the most important thing is that he is sitting at a desk he owns at a company he started.

Look, I'm not saying that he didn't work hard. I'm sure he did. But I guess I'm not sure what this pic has to do with "when you think about giving up". Did Bezos want to give up when this pic was taken? I feel like I'm missing something. I'm asking earnestly and not just trying to be a contrarian, I promise.

I have a nephew- in-law who graduated from Cal Tech in the 90’s. He went to work as a programmer at some moderate size company and got some options. The company was absorbed by Yahoo. H this little guy with hair to his waist and his wife, “willow”(seriously), never have to hit slick again. Last I heard, they were somewhere in South America saving rain forests. I know, csb.

So the next time I want to give up, think about the struggles of multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos in 1999?

Bezos had a net worth of 10.1 billion in 1999

Is this when Amazon’s main competitor was Barnes and Noble?

A friend of mine had a startup oil field service business that he started in 2012. Did really well for 2 years. Was offered 20 million for it in early 2014. Decided not to sell because he thought he could get it to 100 million. Oil prices tanked and he had to take the company into bankruptcy.

The struggle is real for proper photo ops, even in '99

You can't reinvent something invented by Al Gore.

I've been watching JD for awhile, with the tariffs and the coming downturn I would say it may be a little risky to jump on just yet. It's been trending down since its went public.
