I've been watching JD for awhile, with the tariffs and the coming downturn I would say it may be a little risky to jump on just yet. It's been trending down since its went public.

My biggest blunder in my stock market trading Not that im any good at it anyway .Hell i bought enron stock tells you how much i know
You would have been down close to 80% or more in 2001. Today it would be worth about $75k. Not too bad, but one heck of a ride.

It's certainly not because of the user portfolio
Or their misleading article titles. Yahoo have a few niches that keep them somewhat relevant.
They have a good financial section and they break sports stories, that requires a lot of investigating.
They basically do the work for the biggest sports networks (ESPN). They break the story and then it's out there for everyone else to report it and talk about it.
And there are still a decent amount of people who still uses yahoo email..
Other than that, yahoo is doo doo.

I remember when Amazon sold only books. There was a book I needed for a class that was sold out everywhere around campus and someone told me to go look on the website amazon.com. That was my first ever purchase at amazon.

Any idea why he chose Amazon as the name?

Amazon.com was very nearly called "Cadabra," as in "abracadabra." Founder Jeff Bezos rapidly re-conceptualized the name when his lawyer misheard the word as "cadaver."
Bezos instead named the business after the river reportedly for two reasons. One, to suggest scale (Amazon.com launched with the tagline "Earth's biggest book store") and two, back then website listings were often alphabetical.
