Am I the only one who had no idea there are actually drop boxes for unwanted newborns?

Safe Haven Baby Boxes

I had no idea we now have boxes at fire departments that you can actually drop a baby in and once you close the lid it locks.

I guess this is the new, leave your baby in a basket on the doorsteps of a church/orphanage, knock on the door and run

“Since 2016, Safe Haven Baby Boxes have provided a discreet and secure option for parents to surrender their newborns. By raising awareness of the Safe Haven Law, operating a national 24-hour hotline, and carefully designing and implementing Baby Boxes in fire stations across the United States, Safe Haven Baby Boxes help ensure that no child is left without care and no parent feels like they have no options.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes offer a compassionate and secure option for mothers in crisis who are unable to care for their newborns. Designed with innovative safety features and installed on the exterior walls of fire stations and hospitals, each box ensures the safe and anonymous surrender of infants. The exterior door locks automatically when a newborn is placed inside, and an interior door allows medical personnel to promptly and securely retrieve the baby”

When this started I thought this was one of the best anti abortion moves in existance. They aren’t used nearly enough, IMO.

I’d like to know how many babies are actually left in those sweat boxes every year.

Opening the box triggers a silent alarm so first responders can retrieve the baby in under three minutes.

I think this was started in Korea by a Christian couple. Most abandon babies there are deformed. They took on one child and it has grown into possibly a world movement. I wish I could remember names but if you do an AI search you may find it. Stunning display if sacrificial love.

"Foundling wheels" were used as early as the middle ages, mostly in churches and monasteries...you would place the baby in the opening, then turn the wheel so that the opening faced the interior of the building...turning the wheel would cause a bell to ring so the baby would be found quickly...

Thankfully, motherly instincts kick in and babies birthed will make a new mother (did not say birthing person) want to actually keep the newborn, rather than discard him.

Thanks, I was about to post that I remember it being an issue in Nebraska, because they were dropping off teenagers.

I only recently saw one up close walking around a small town square.

I'm sure they have them in my city, but I never walk by fire stations that closely here.

That’s been in place for ever. Haven’t personally heard any stories of it happening.

That’s because your ilk is all about killing them.

Yes. They seem to be in democrat voting areas for some reason.
