Am I just getting older or does it feel like society is collapsing?

I’m 42 now, which probably qualifies as old to everyone younger than me. I feel like when I was a kid things generally operated efficiently and now they are falling apart. People weren’t necessarily religious, but they seem to generally have a moral standard.
Politically, my dad thought that Bill Clinton was the antichrist. In retrospect, most of his policies would make him borderline far right. Think about the crime bill. The biggest issue we had back, then was that he got a blowjob from an intern. Which seemed terrible at the time, but compared to the scandals of politicians today seems mild. We actually had a balanced budget once in the 90s. Nw politics seems like a partisan gap that will never be bridged. The actual. political positions of the individual parties seem completely
incoherent.
We have a bifurcating economy with 10% of the country headed in the one direction, and most of the rest headed in another direction. We’ve got young men without any money paying to see naked women on OnlyFans because they aren’t having actual sex with their own. Then we’ve got young men pissing away their money on sports gambling and prediction markets. We have young women who see their only way to a future as becoming an influencer and/or an online porn star. Most of them aren’t headed toward homeownership or establishing a family.
I’m not even going to get into the fatigue, fatigue culture, or the fact that fatigue culture seems to be infecting the rest of the society.
I know… CSB. But it almost seems depressing to me.

ETA: joking aside, our society has declined to a disgusting state, there are no more morals, standards, principles. or even common courtesies

None of this would be the case if millennials didn’t need avocado toast and 4k sq ft houses

TBF, if you replace some of those terms with brothels, taverns, and prostitutes, you could say that's been most of post-nomadic humanity.

Yes it is fallling apart and globalists are cheering it on. They want to rid western culture and fill it with more obedient people. God help our grandchildren.

It’s called growing up, maturing, facing reality, and a touch of communism.

The Bible pretty much tells you how its gonna go down. It will get much worse

Most great civilizations historically dont last more than about 200 years. So the answer is yes. But we only get one life so make the best of it. Try not to concentrate on the idiots and live your best life and enjoy the small stuff. Stop and look at the beauty of our Earth.

The importing of third worlders and lawlessness of minorities has this country in a downward spiral

all today's issues have always been here
they are just more magnified now since everyone can create news content on social media

when I was in college(70s,) many scholars were predicting a pretty short shelf life for this country(during the bicentennial year,) citing a lot of what we're seeing today, I thought they were a bunch of idiots... at the time

I do wonder...everything is so so freaking expensive nowadays, what's going to happen in 10 years? Prices really can't keep rising at the rate they're rising now or else everything will be unaffordable.
Something has to change to get us off our current trajectory.

collapsing? No. Evolving? Yes.
Whether or not its evolving in a positive way or negative way depends on one's perspective and the aspect your are observing. Every generation thinks the generation behind it is doomed and the world is turning to shite. Been that way since day one. Yet here we still are.

Isn't that better than incest though?

Thoughts
- What you're feeling/seeing is real. People will tell you it doesn't matter - it does. The internet and social media and everything that accompanied them left us more vapid, more connected, yet somehow with fewer meaningful connections to others and the world around us.
- Everything is globalized, and this isn't really about trade/economics. We've gone from macro lens to ultra wide lens. People obsess over Palestine but know very little about what's happening two streets over from their house.
- The demographic issue is serious. I'm not going to say existential (although by definition that's obviously true) - but it's a ticking time bomb. More and more people trading a long vision of kids and grandkids and generational impacts for right here right now is unprecedented and we really don't know what it's going to do.
- But I think people underestimate how flexible/resilient/malleable humanity is. That's not necessarily good in this instance if it prevents us from seeking out things that are good/wholesome/healthy. But it means we're probably not destined for some breakpoint in the near future where everything crashes and is reformed. I think it's just going to continue to be a situation where our communities and culture and "meaning" are hollowed out more and more.
