I KNEW when this article was published, 60 Minutes would be eating crow and another airline (not Allegiant) would be the next air accident.

Well here we are. I didn’t expect it to happen this soon though.

I would have to say that getting called-out before an accident occurred is the best thing for an airline. They will make it a point to be safe. I would probably fly them now more so another airline who is complacent that they are safe enough.

Allegiant Airlines - The most dangerous airline in the US
Allegiant could be one of the more dangerous US based carriers, but by far the most dangerous airlines operating in the US are overseas carriers.

A buddy recently left one of the major Gulf carriers. He had endless stories about the lack of training, poor pilot skill, terrible flight crew judgement, faulty procedures, poor English and fatigue-inducing crew rotations that are illegal for US operators.

Here's that video (via YouTube) of an Emirates crew that failed to deal with a crosswind and put a big A380 into crazy oscillation upon landing.

Then there's the Air China 981 YouTube classic that demonstrates what happens when air crews operating in the US don't speak English.

I have flown them and had zero problems.

Guess what.. Southwest airlines (Whom I will fly in June) says hello from Philadelphia.

This was a witch hunt against a small but aggressively growing airline. I think the major carriers hate what Allegiant is doing. If you study the history of Southwest airlines, Braniff air went after them too.

Braniff was already a hemhorraging whale by the time WN became a nuisance to them, the Wright amendment allowed them to flourish, and helped them get to where they are today, Crandall, at AA, used to always say, when WN was getting a little too big for their britches, appeal the act today and they'll be gone tomorrow, and at the time, was believable

flying rubber dog shite out of Hong Kong right now

I always loved this line. I hope the Top Gun sequel references this. Maybe have Maverick down on his luck after too many tower flybys, and all that associated spilled coffee. His coke habit has reduced his career options to the rubber dog shite out of Hong Kong gig.

Speaking of which, who the frick is buying rubber dog shite at such a volume/rate that it needs to be flown out, with all those associated air-freight costs? I would think sea-going container vessels would be the way to go.
