At least give each teacher a choice. Had those two teachers been armed and trained the result would have been far different. That is how they do it in Israel and active shooters are very rare there.

You want public school teachers armed?

All of them?

Is this for serious?

Just get rid of no gun zones, make it so these idiots don't have target rich environments without an possibility of resistance.

Not EVERYONE needs to have a gun on them, the potential for everyone having a gun is enough to stop 90% of these mass shootings. It's psychological

Just think of all the gun battles you'd have in inner-city schools. Brilliant!

I agree in principle. But have you seen some teachers these days? They have no business being around a gun

Nah. If we fortify schools do it with people trained in that. Not 26 yr old Ashley that's trying to teach 8 yr olds math.

Walk in the classroom of most teachers and the password to every program they need to access (including grades) is on a sticky note on their desk. Imagine how easy it is for kids to access that, much less if they actually had a firearm sitting in their half open purse. There has to be better ways to prevent these shootings, but arming teachers isn’t the answer.

Definitely not all teachers. But I'd be in favor of a select group of teachers who have passed a certain certification to be able to carry within the school.

So in the case of a school shooting, would those teachers abandon their class or stay behind?

I'd rather my property taxes go up and pay for a trained police officer or armed security guard on school grounds.

Training for a concealed carry permit can be done over a weekend.

Can be paid for by the $40B we send to Ukraine every few months.

As she was shielding those children with her own body to no avail do you think that teacher wished she were armed?

The answer to most problems isn’t forcing everyone to do something that many of them don’t want to do.

Schools will soon be like airports with a TSA to even get in the gate.

Yeah, cause I really want some 5'2 100 pound 1st grade teacher packing heat and having to make life or death decisions in the heat of the moment.

This is the most low-hanging fruit/simpleton idea in the whole gun debate.

So just the students should carry guns?

I don't think teachers should be carrying guns around as they teach, but a gun in a safe in at least certain classrooms would be beneficial.

Hell, have a safe in every classroom and say there's a gun in all of them. Then have certain teachers have access to the actual guns.

For those saying some kid will overpower the teacher and get the gun, what's stopping them from bringing their own anyways?
