The Rome-based institute has examined medical records of about 18% of the country’s coronavirus fatalities, finding that just three victims, or 0.8% of the total, had no previous pathology.
They didn't look at all of Italy's deaths, just 18% of them. In that 18%, only 3 had no previous pathology.

The problem is there are some young healthy people getting really sick. But they are able to recover after a couple days on the vent
Italy, who is out of ICU space and ventilators has managed to save all of the young healthy people under 50 alive. ALL of them. Every single one. There have been 17 deaths of folks under 50 and all under 40 had serious prexisting medical conditions.

Over 99% had high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes. This isnt killing healthy people like past seasonal viral infections.

Which, tbh, is not super great for america's population. We have those 3 in spades.

That’s fair...so extrapolate that out to 100%. That’s less than 25 people that have died without prexisting health conditions. Presumably they are elderly.
They are definitely over 40, because the next chart looks at TOTAL deaths. Not 18% of them. And there have only been 17 deaths under forty and ALL were men with serious prexisting conditions

So we just aren’t supposed to protect our 3 most vulnerable people under 40? Some of you are starting to show your stupidity

I didn't actually mean to do that

Also, I’m hearing reports that ~20% of patients who develop pneumonia (in turn around 15% of all infected) but then recover has such severe scarring in the lungs it results in a diminished capacity.

Dude they are dying anyway. Half of the deaths reviewed had 3 prexisting conditions.

I get it, you’re losing tons of money like the rest of us. This sucks. But, odds are, you are going to know someone who dies from this. Old or young.

Agree, but the 1st case in Missouri was a couple of days ago. A 60 year old. Their health has been described as very healthy to a COPD patient. Anyway, that person is dead 2 days after being diagnosed.
I live in Columbia & I haven’t seen anything about the patient having COPD. The only thing they said was that they were self-quarantined after diagnosis & wound up calling 911. They haven’t released any info regarding the patient other than the virus was acquired during travel & they were in their 60’s. They haven’t even disclosed gender. I can’t fathom why they had this patient quarantine at home, yet I shouldn’t be surprised by anything the University of Missouri Health System botches. Per the governor’s office, the decision was the healthcare provider’s to make.

You can recover some of that over time

Reported hypertension prevalence in Italy ranges from 55% to 59% of the whole population >18+ years of age, with a worrisome rate of 11% in the 18–35?years age range.
The coronavirus obviously has a passion for taking out those with weakened bodies. America is not a beacon of health. We have a lot of people with the same issues described in the article. We very well may see substantial loss of life. We have a lot larger population.
Also, I would imagine that 99% of most people have some kind of health issue. That's just part of being a human.

No...we should not save 3 people at the cost of millions of jobs and the global economy. It’s Darwinism. Survival of the fittest. Maybe now, after all of this is done, people will start taking better fricking care of themselves.
We drive cars every day. 1.25 million people die every year...3800 a day...from car accidents. You want to give those up too to save lives? How about sugar? And alcohol? Should be banned right? to protect the people from themselves and save lives?
You are the one showing your stupidity. We accept death for the greater good every day.
