As someone over 40, I don’t give a shite.

Guy, my sarcasm sucks. I would continue the troll but I am legit pissed off about the current situation. I might organize my own rallies and become an urban legend if things keep this way.

That’s less than 25 people that have died without prexisting health conditions
I was told there were none in this thread. I disagreed and got 12 downvotes so far.
So it it 25 or more or none?
Spoiler:
It's much more.

They didn't look at all of Italy's deaths, just 18% of them. In that 18%, only 3 had no previous pathology.
Okay. So we’re talking about approximately 16 of Italy’s deaths.

I get it, you’re losing tons of money like the rest of us. This sucks. But, odds are, you are going to know someone who dies from this. Old or young.
I know that full well. But odds are MUCH higher that they are elderly and they are dying in the near term anyway. Will it suck? Absolutely. But no sense in making the other 96% of the population go bankrupt. Recession a and depressions cause death too. We are trading one for the other. All to save people that are already one foot out the door.

Flatten the curve......smother the economy.

I agree, but the FB posters cant handle that logic.

I’ll take a ban bet that I know more people, old or young, that die from any of the following:
Car accidents
Suicide
Heart disease
Osteoporosis
Colon Cancer
Breast Cancer
than COVID-19.

Thread title is misleading.

Yes and that needs to be shouted from the mountaintops

I will say this man. And I say this as a non-religious person. I’ve always believed in the saying “God helps those who help themselves.” I know many old fricks in my family who don’t take care of their shite. fricking boomers doing boomer shite with no retirement and diabetes, smoking, etc. am I willing to wreck my life for these people? frick no.
This is rough to say. My dad is one of them.

Hard times causes death; agreed there. But to do nothing with this type of issue facing the nation, is very un-American.

Like most of Europe besides UK. There are a lot of gypsies that beg outside of train stations when you visit Italy—I always figured those would be the first to go.

Not suggesting we do nothing. Quarantine them. Produce more ventilators.
But the other 96% of the population has to continue to function.

Are you pretending that old boomers in America are living a healthy lifestyle with no underlying health issues to speak of? And not even just old people. We are an unhealthy nation bc nobody can afford to go to the doctor and that’s why this is scaring people in power.

Outside of a very few crazies I don’t think anyone here is advocating for doing nothing.
The sensible approach would have been to quarantine ALL high risk individuals and allow the rest to acquire herd immunity. Now we’re talking about crippling the economy that will take years to rebound from...

We are not an unhealthy nation because people can’t afford a doctor.
We are unhealthy because we are fat, lazy, overeat, smoke, etc.
Im not pretending boomers are healthy. I’m accepting that they’ve made their bed. They can lay in it. ( in quarantine). No reason to take everyone down with them.

That makes far too much sense and is the current set of guidelines that have been prescribed during flu seasons.

I just find it funny we are crashing our economy to save some 80 year olds. Boomers will never retire now.
