Always like to hear good news from cancer patients. There's enough bad cancer stories to go around.

Plus, Trabek has about 2 more years to go with the current sports gambler guy that is killing it on jeopardy.

The doctors might have given him a misdiagnosis. Apparently, 31% of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are misdiagnosed. LINK

There will never be another host like Alex Trebek. I hope he hangs in their, gets the cancer managed, and continues hosting!

Not sure you read the study right. If you did, not sure how your comment is on point.

As I read it, the misdiagnosis was in diagnosing those that actually had pancreatic cancer with some other disease/issue.

My mom had lung cancer and went to a chemo appointment and the doctors told her they could barely find the tumor anymore and it was 98% gone. She passed away later that night.

Wow, that sucks. Sorry for your loss, and suddenly, given that description.

May I ask for a few more details? Feel free to disregard, if this is painful.

He might have Autoimmune Pancreatitis which mirror a lot of the same signs and symptoms as pancreatic cancer.

quote:

Autoimmune pancreatitis is a rare, newly recognized disease and can be mistakenly diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. The two conditions have similar signs and symptoms, but very different treatments, so it is very important to distinguish one from another.

Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is difficult to diagnose. Often, it doesn't cause any symptoms. When it does, its symptoms and signs are similar to those of pancreatic cancer.

The most common sign of autoimmune pancreatitis, present in about 80 percent of people, is painless jaundice, caused by blocked bile ducts. AIP can also cause weight loss. Many people with autoimmune pancreatitis have masses in the pancreas and other organs, which can be misdiagnosed as cancer.

That would be good. I was just pointing out that the link you originally posted and the misdiagnosis stat you posted was referencing people that actually had pancreatic cancer that were initially misdiagnosed with something else.

So the Lord gave him 100% cancer but took only half of it back.

Noted.

sorry to hear that. My dad had lung cancer the doctors recommend home hospice, which we did. I remember going to his house thinking he would be gone in weeks. He lasted just over two years, Hospice gave a plaque after two years. He did pass away last May ... damn I miss him
