In what Alex Trebek calls “kind of mind-boggling,” the Jeopardy! host says he’s in “near remission” three months after he announced his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

The cancer, still, has a 9 percent survival rate, but Trebek told PEOPLE for the magazine’s new cover story, “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.”

Trebek, 78, says he still has several more rounds of chemotherapy, but he remains in good spirits.LINK

Good vibes towards Mr. Trebek. Pancreatic cancer is no fricking joke. I lost an aunt to it within 2 weeks of diagnosis.

if the doctor's hadn't seen this before it must be the power of prayer.

Uh, that isnt remission. Remission is when you have no clinical evidence of cancer.

Tumor shrunk by 50% is still tumor.

Chemo works really well, it will buy you a few years when you would have died in a few months.

" near remission "

Stage 4 pancreatic cancer?

My sister in law died from pancreatic cancer, and she was a bloated and bald mess from the chemo. It was awful. She only lived 2 months post diagnosis.

For the life of me, I don't know why Dr's don't tell patients the truth. He still has cancer cells in his body that will return. I still want the man to live as long as he can. Wouldn't you want the truth?

It blows my mind that he is 78, with stage IV pancreatic cancer, taking chemo...and is still as sharp and vibrant as he is. He is pretty much a badass.
