They are going to really disappointed when the labor shortage continues after ending the extra benefits, though I think end of June is a good time to stop the extra unemployment benefits. Everything will be open by September. It’s just that that doesn’t appear to be the main issue as to why these low-balling businesses can’t attract employees.

Low balling? What the frick are you talking about?

Businesses have been paying hiring bonuses, higher wages, and more to try and get people hired. They're not low balling anyone.

Her own release cites Alabama's unemployment at 3.8%. The Federal Reserve considers full employment to be around 5%, so something isn't really adding up.

Unemployment numbers do not take into account persons who are not looking for a job. You know... the worthless leaches.

How about we abolish welfare. Stop giving money away to able bodied people.

Get a job or starve (or get shot trying to steal something from someone). Either way would be great in my opinion.

the mental gymnastics you do are incredible

The lengths these libatards go to pretend to act so educated and challenge common sense is exhausting. I think this can be attributed to some of our fine higher education universities and these curriculum's such as liberal arts and psychology overloading their brains. Let me break it down. Quit giving people a free ride and free shite and then maybe they will want to better themselves for their future and their children's futures.

Well, here's a list of places I've been over the past few weeks. None have been closed because of staffing, and Lowe's is the only place I've seen Now Hiring signs.

Publix(3 different locations)
Chick Fil A(2 locations)
Seasick Records
Ore Mercantile
Slice Pizza(Vestavia location)
Black Market Bar(Colonnade location)
Lululemon at The Summit
REI
Alabama Outdoors
Walgreen's(2 locations)
CVS(Cahaba Heights location)
Piggly Wiggly(2 locations)
Lowe's

Maybe I've just been lucky and hit places that haven't had hiring issues, or their issues haven't been prevalent when I've been there.

I just looked up Publix in Birmingham and there appears to be 20-30 open positions.

Publix Birmingham

Looks like a couple dozen at Chick Fil A as well.

have no legitimate claim for unemployment.

finding better jobs....

is very good, but has no impact on the actual debate regarding the Covid bump.

people deciding both spouses don't need to work....

is a personal decision that, again, has no bearing on the Covid bump for unemployment.

None of what you said does anything to show why this is a bad move. Carrying on the Covid bump for unemployment indefinitely is in no way a positive approach. Denying its impact on the labor shortage is willful ignorance or a poor troll attempt. Now is as good a time as any to cut that shite.

You seen to have mentioned a lot of businesses that care about their employees and actually have qualified people that believe in customer service. I just seem to believe you troll these threads to give us another side of the discussion. I see no Taco Bell, McDonalds, etc. the ones where they hire warm bodies and a pulse every two weeks regardless of the pandemic.

Yep, the worker shortage is epidemic.

These low IQ frickers are just fricking themselves. Businesses will wise up and hire people from South of the border, or automate.

ANyone ever having to deal with low level employees understand how frustrating it can be.

The open mouthed soy people like Froman live in fantasy land where business owners can just afford massive wage hikes without severe consequence. Coincidentally, they’ve never own, run, or managed a business.

Was the inside open at either of these locations? I have seen quite a few fast food places that are open, but the inside is closed because they don't have enough staff to operate the inside and the drive through. That has been the case at almost every fast food restaurant I've been to for months now. It would be quicker for me to name the ones that actually are open for customers to eat inside than the ones who aren't.

In the past 2 weeks, I've seen the places below closed, mostly in Hoover. These places are begging people to work.

Irondale Cafe - obviously, this one isn't in Hoover
Archie's
Chipotle
Shipley's
Jack's
Hardee's
Arby's
Backyard Burger
McDonald's
Burger King

I know there are more examples. It's become so commonplace that I have lost track. Trying to pick up a quick meal for my family or on the road to a client's office has become a real guessing game.

That would seem about normal considering there are at least a dozen Publix stores in the Birmingham area, plus a warehouse.

Just pay them more bro. I’ll happily absorb the cost increase of goods (I won’t but I’ll say I am)
