Was the inside open at either of these locations?

I don't know. I just do curbside pickup through the app, and haven't really paid attention.

I don't doubt it, but I don't really frequent any of those places so I haven't experienced it. I did go to Jack's in Pleasant Grove a few months ago and the drive through was really slow, but that seemed normal for Jack's.

anyone else feel like this summer is going to get really interesting?

retail jobs with low wages, an obvious inflationary climate, and then some states pulling fed benefits.

I'm not sure there is a great way out of this mess

The answer is no, the inside isn't open. You should pay better attention.

They have the same, or higher, wages as pre-Covid.

They should be pulling it. It cannot go on forever.

The interesting part will be who decides to starve.

having the same wages as precovid when inflation is a reality is not something sustainable

I'm not supporting free loaders btw but this is a more nuanced conversation than "just get back to work peasant or you'll starve"

some people will go back to work and then still end up starving

No one in this country has starved since the Great Depression

Not sure why I would pay attention to the dining room status when I have no intention of going in there in the first place, but okay.

I'm part of a large organization of business owners. The #1 theme currently being discussed locally within the group is lack of workers, especially at the lower skill/wages levels. shite, the only new hires we've had recently have been people on parole that are required to have a job as part of their parole. This covid unemployment stuff has to stop if we are ever going to have a chance to get on our feet again.

yea we have also printed more money than any other time in the history of this country over the last year

once again. it's not as easy as get back to work and everything will be okay..

overall my point is I'm not sure how this all plays out but I do expect some civil unrest

Yeah, but it will take longer if they work.

Stop being dramatic.

Visited Alabama over the weekend, help wanted signs everywhere. Every single place on the gulf coast and every where around where my aunt lives near mobile. Buccees was damn near begging people to fill out apps

Yeah, I don't doubt that at all. I question whether that is primarily being caused by the unemployment benefits. It's possible it is, but seems we're just taking the business owners' word for it. As I said earlier in the thread, I lean to this being the right move, especially since she gave until the middle of June. I'd just like to see more evidence that the unemployment benefits are the primary driver of the problem as her press release indicates.

What do you attribute the fact no one can find anyone to work for less than, say, $400 a week?

Any ideas?

Yep. Anyone living in Alabama who claims they haven't seen this is lying. Plain and simple.

If one is going to make definitive statements about employment, you would think they would at least walk through the front doors. But alas, as I said earlier: CNN has a better track record with truth than you.

I didn't make a definitive statement about CFA's employment. I said on my visits to 2 different CFA locations in town, I didn't see any Now Hiring signs, and I used the service I've been using since the pandemic started - curbside pickup through the app. It's possible they haven't opened the dining room because of staffing issues. I have no way to confirm or refute that.
