Am I a bad parent for letting my kids play air soft gun battles with their friends? I got shot with one and it hurt like a mother fricker. There were a lot of bruises but everyone had a blast.

A throwback to growing up in the '80s. We had BB gun wars all the time.

We used to have BB gun wars, some dudes used pellet guns.

They'll be fine.

how old are they?

I'd make them wear eye protection at the very least and make sure they arent removing or painting over the orange tips

As long as there is eye protection involved I see zero issues with it.

For the love of god, make sure they wear eye protection. At all times when playing. Drill it into them. Make sure they realize how easy that nice binocular vision and depth perception can go away.

It takes a fraction of a second for their lives to change irreversibly.

Not only that, imagine how they’d feel if they were the one that caused their friend to lose an eye. So drill into them to not just Make sure they are using eye protection, but that everyone on the field of play is as well.

Trust me on this one.

ETA: not saying to not let them play, it’s fun as shite.

Just make sure they know what can happen if they don’t wear eye protection

BB gun and bottle rocket wars. It's one of a little Baw's right of passage.

You’re soft.

Explain to them the ground rules like normal parents.

No shooting above the waist and only 1 pump. That’s the rules.

I got shot in the eye. Right below my eye ball

As a kid I would feel like an idiot for wearing safety glasses, but it’s better than the alternative of not being able to shoot your friends

You know what makes you feel like a bigger idiot? Losing sight in an eye for the rest of your life.

All of this.

We all had 760 Crossman's. The rule was supposed to be nothing over 5 pumps but when you were hiding in the woods you could people cranking the frick out of them.

1 pump bb gun wars were legit in the 80’s and 90’s. Someone always crossed the line. Airsoft hurts just as much but its a blast. Your son might need the tactical skills in the future America
