Our parents didn't know about it but we had BB gun wars. One time someone ended up on the roof of a house in the neighborhood and that dude unloaded on everyone. I had a huge bruise on my arm. I got hit in the side, it was kind of far off.

Pellets sting a little more. Only got hit with one of those once in the shoulder. Firecrackers fricked me up more than BB or pellet guns.

No you’re not a bad parent.

You’re letting them have fun with something some what dangerous, the way it’s suppose to be.
It builds character and toughens them up.

Fwiw We used BB guns when I was a kid.

I got shot with one and it hurt like a mother fricker. There were a lot of bruises but everyone had a blast.

We threw rocks and firecrackers at each other when I was a kid. Wasn't a good Saturday if we didn't come home bruised, a few cuts, and drenched in sweat and dirt.

We should have an OT vs Poli Board air soft gun war. Don’t think BB or Pellet gun wars are ok in todays society anymore, so let’s settle with air soft guns.

Yes. One time I was at a club and these dudes drove by shooting air soft gun. 20 cops showed up guns out ready to shoot. Do you want your kid to get shot? Buy him a video game geez.

All of this.

We all had 760 Crossman's. The rule was supposed to be nothing over 5 pumps but when you were hiding in the woods you could people cranking the frick out of them.

My brother and my buddy both had the 760. The best of the air rifles. We had the 5 pump rule but it was always ignored. We also had CO2 pistols.

My 15 yr old has been in it for a few years. As long as they take proper precautions it’s fine. I put the xnay on battles around the house because we have neighbors.

There are local indoor and outdoor airsoft facilities that do regular events so they all load up and have a great time.

My only fears are a) those damn things look like real guns so they need to be careful about carrying them around and b) some school shooter nut case will show up at one of these deals.

Considering all of the insanely stupid things I did as a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s, I am shocked I am not missing a limb or was partially blinded.

My boys had had them growing up. The one rule I would not bend on was they had to wear eye protection. If I found out they did not wear the eye protection they did not get to play for a very long time.

My family had actual guns when we were kids including the girls.

Playing with air soft guns was to be expected and was always a blast.

Have them wear eye protection, something for the teeth, maybe even a cup, and be sure the guns are clearly visible as non-real.

Otherwise let em have fun.

I used to take my and his friends every weekend almost. Long as they have the right protection they’re fine. Just a few welts. Definitely make them wear mouthguards and some type of face covering.
