Or do.

It’s a fascinating story, even if you’re claustrophobic.

Reminds me of the Ted the caver story from the “Need time to kill” creepy stories thread (which is one of the best threads ever on this site: LINK).

Why do we put other's peoples lives at risk to rescue these idiots?

Dude, seriously ... my sorry arse didn't live this long to die trapped in a cave. Same with drowning in deep water, falling from a great height, falling into a well or whatever, no thank you.

Everyone dies so that's just how it is. I personally would like to simply lay down for a nap and not wake up.

I don’t think “we” are putting anyone’s lives at risk. There are volunteer groups of rescuers that live to travel around the world rescuing people.

Cave divers are insane. Imagine taking your gear off, in a cave underwater and sliding it through an 8” opening while keeping your regulator in your mouth and then spending the next few minutes wriggling and pushing your body through to the other side.

Look up some stories on youtube of the rescues Edd Sorenson has done. Incredible

Very familiar with Ed and his body of work. One of my good friends was an incredible cave diver/ rescue (body retrieval) …. What he did was incredible

It sounds like he was doing work, at least and just suffered an illness at the absolute worst possible time and place.

I'm not dogging on this, but how valuable/important is this work? What sort of discoveries have came out of a cave from a depth of 3000ft that make this all worth it? The fact that there are rescue organizations for this exact scenario, make it seem like there is value in it. Maybe someone with more knowledge can post something to educate and provide a better understanding for the board. Thanks.

At the end of this episode, whether he lives or dies, they need to dynamite the cave as it obviously has no redeeming purpose except to attract idiots that want to try their luck against the odds.

Not sure if that’s the one where they exhale to shrink the chest cavity to get through. But I’m with you. Frick these cave stories.
