What happened to Hammertime, he's a great poster

I think he's 25, served in 'Nam, a welder, also went to law school.

My advice concerning fights and people who don't want to be in them, is you better look ready for one. In a lot of videos, you see people being attacked who couldn't punch through a wet paper bag. That's on purpose. 100% on purpose that it's always the soyest of boys getting jumped/attacked/beaten.

Pussies will always take the path of least resistance, and that's what's video'd time and time again. People attacking the weakest, the softest, the easiest. But there's something you can do, and it doesn't take years of training.

Take a few moments of your life, and sit and think about it. What are the things which are (and more importantly, were, at the beginning) illegal to do in professional MMA? Those are the things you need to do instead of turtling up. Headbutts, eye gouges, fish hooking, biting, small joint manipulation, nutsack punches, they're banned because they work, and because it diminishes competition, which is exactly what 99% of people should do when attacked.

A well trained boxer would absolutely not get annihilated by a BJJ guy and I kinda know, I have been training jits for about 12 years and been boxing since I was about 10 years old. It’s all about managing space. If a good boxer can connect with a grappler before he can get a takedown or be able to get some type of standing submission then it’s all she wrote for the BJJ guy. Plus the BJJ guy will not be looking for a takedown in a street fight anyway. We typically train to get off the ground in a street fight, not go to it. Now I will say that our brand of BJJ (I am under Royler Gracie) does focus on self defense first and we do incorporate some stand-up in our training, but putting even a Black Belt level jits guy against a real good boxer is not going to work out very well most of the time for the BJJ guy.

Point being with all of that is to train both.

"Fighting is trashy" is exactly what all these people in the videos said their entire life. And then someone walked up and beat them until they were out cold, and sometimes past that point regardless. You can sit there and say it's trashy, and it is, but that won't save you.

You could be the best fighter on the planet but be knocked unconscious just as easily as me by a surprise blow to the back of the head. That's typically what happens these days.

Yes to both.

Can you throw a decent punch?

Decent? Yes, I suppose so. But in a real fight I'd be more likely to grapple and use size as an advantage.

I will take it one step further- the toughest people out there will not tell you how tough they are. Don't worry about the loud ones, it's the quiet ones who take you out. I know NFL players, Green Berets who have seen combat (some who have been wounded), elite UFC fighters and others who wouldn't dream of telling you how bad arse they. One former training partner, former UFC fighter Mark Kerr, was embarrassed that he broke jaws for a living and certainly never bragged about it. Only on the internet do you have guys bragging about throwing other men through plate glass windows!

I never said anything about me being a badass. I was commenting on how the vast majority of men absolutely cannot defend themselves and have zero skills or training in such.

Saying that I can defend myself is not “bragging,” it’s just reality.

The soy boys who make the smart arse comments about “fighting is trashy” are obviously the ones who cannot defend themselves.

The train of thought in your post has led to a lot of people getting their asses absolutely smacked in the streets. TKD isn’t useful in a street fight against anyone who isn’t a complete goober spaz.

They don’t teach absolutely anything that can be used against a resisting human being and it’s a big money scam- if you’re not sparring full speed, which 99.9999% of traditional martial arts schools don’t, then you should just be sitting at home because you’re not actually improving at fighting

This isn't accurate.

Yes there are a lot of bad MA schools out there just for profit. But there are still a lot of good ones as well that still do a lot of live sparring.

Yeah, if they can't stand up, they can't fight. Kicks above the waist are high-risk, low-reward in street fights (for 99.9999% of the population).

Punches/elbows/headbutts for upper body striking, knees/feet for lower body.

I don’t think there are really very many fist fights these days. But usually people that get into fights are people that like to fight. The same people fighting are usually the ones that have a history of it. 2 dudes looking for the same thing(a confrontation) find each other and a fight ensues. Most of the time people don’t just get beat on for no reason (even though it can happen). For the most part though it takes 2 to tango.

If you have the hip flexibility to create speed and power...a side kick to the solar plexus can be nasty. You can knock people on their asses or stop them from charging in.
