In my day Fred's was the place to go if you wanted to get shanked by a roided out 25 year old.

Its all cyclical. Fred's was #1 when I was in school. Then when I was in my early/mid 20s, the college students I worked with told me nobody goes to Fred's. That doesn't mean it wasn't packed.. they just meant college students weren't going. That's when the roid heads were there.

I was told recently by college students that "everyone goes to Freds", so I guess its back cool for college students again.

Well, I estimated the 3,000 people...thought I'd heard 2,800?

I've never been, but I've seen it a number of times from the outside, and it's hard to believe that it holds 3000 people or close to it. 3000 people is a shite ton of people

But I've experienced what I wrote personally probably 50 times

I remember going there one time during the day when it was no cover. I had a tab around $80 or so and when I left to go to the game, they wouldn’t give wristbands. They were very adamant about people paying the cover.

When I was in school the younger kids went to Reggies to listen to shitty rap music and the upperclassmen went to Fred's.

Yeah we'd actually wait there until they started charging door and they'd walk around and give you wristbands.

But you had to wait until that time and it was usually after a game started.

I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped doing this though.

Ole miss isn't even that big. I have a hard time believing that 3,000 went to one bar. That's like 20% of the student body lol.

Its feels like a full city block inside and they straight up break fire code. The patio portion is like a sardine can and has a big balcony as well.

But whatever, it's a frick ton and its at capacity with a high cover a huge line outside begging to get in.

Well 10,000 probably go out every night and it was the main place to be

Now that I'm thinking about it...I think its closer to 1,000 and 3,000 is how many people paid cover in a night...my bad.

Funny how times change. There are certain bars I wouldn't go into now because there is only 1 way out and I always think about that nightclub fire where everyone died trying to get out the door at the same time.

How do you piss away a gold mine like that? How?

I haven't read anything yet, so forgive if my points are in vain.

1. That building had to be paid off, no? Or monthly rent if that was the case had to be cheap.

2. Cover charge usually there no? 5 bucks x 300 people or so about 3 nights a week on average?

3. College kids spending parents' money.

4. Draft beer nights. Money makers.

5. Shots. Kids do them and they pay 5 for each one.

Bogies was always popular but was hugely mismanaged. They had the outdoor patio. They should have been trying to get live acts...BIG acts on the inside.

Sports Illustrated >>>>>>>> Bogies.

More likely than that the bar was managed fine, but the owners personal finances weren't and he pissed all of his money away and leveraged his business to do so.

People need to start heckling the shite out of him over background checks.

He was abusing the state’s background check ability to look up potential dates.

Yeah maybe...his fault regardless. I was kind of combining the two.

He spent all his money so he couldn't reinvest in improving/maintaining the bar.

Supposedly yes.

And he used the background check to look up Wendy Vitter for some reason.

He said game day weekends...you are stupid if you go in that bar on any event weekend...huge covers and packed shoulder to shoulder

When I was at OM in 90s there was a Mexican restaurant that was packed every night... bankrupt and employees not paid because cash went up his nose in white dust
