Many cities (Shreveport, Lake Charles, Monroe) would love it.
Sure, but the USA Today/Gatehouse media mergers have killed off local papers. I can remember when the local paper was the pinnacle of local information, but that has all changed after Gatehouse started cutting back printing, killed off local papers, sold off real estate, combined printing presses, and laid off staff. For example the once mighty Courier in Houma had its own printing press and was located in its own office complex.
Now it is down to bare bones with 1 full time reporter, a regional editor that handles several USA Today papers in the state, an office that does not exist anymore, a printed paper edition that is sometimes days old since it has to be printed elsewhere, click bait content, and sometimes no local content because the entire paper has been filled with stories from the USA Today network or AP.

Where else are you going to get news? Tv? Facebook?
In some areas that is your only choice. I know TV is a totally different style of writing and presentation. Facebook can be a source depending on the originator.
Don’t get me wrong the Advocate has been a strong source for news and information in the state in years past, but when you start reducing the paper and taking money from foundations, mixing advertising with content, increasing prices by changing accounting, etc.
That is when the Newspaper Dies in Bankruptcy.

I still get the paper (I know, I know). It is time to renew and I am done with it. I have gotten multiple e-mails notifying me that my subscription is up and letting me know it's time to renew. I will not. I am still getting the paper, wondering how long I will get it.

Be prepared for e-mails and calls offering you a greatly reduced rate to keep your subscription, and the longer you don't reply, the cheaper the rates get.
I cancelled my subscription a couple years ago due to rate increases and the fact the only thing I was doing were the word puzzles for the most part and not really reading much of the paper.
My wife will pick up a paper about once a week when she goes to the store. Other than that, we don't miss it.

The time to cancel was in 1999. Just let it die.
Boomers and their newspapers…they just can’t let it go.
I had a professor at LSU tell us he cancelled the paper because there’s chemicals in the ink that will leech into your fingertips and cause you to become a liberal.

Used to have a subscription to that newspaper when the Manships owned it and it was local. It had an awesome sports section, daily. After georgie bought it the carrier would miss my house like 3 times a week and I would have to call them and report it. the paper would be delivered about noon which did not do anything for me because I was at work by 6 AM. After about a month of these shenanigans I called them and cancelled.
The paper would call me once a week wanting to know if I wanted to subscribe again. No I said.

It isn’t biased it’s curated
I guess that’s hard for y’all to understand since y’all hang out on this right wing echo clamber that says that kids should be in cages and that the January 6th terrorist attack was no big deal
When you read the paper not only are you getting the facts but you’re getting the correct opinion on current events

They are not alone. Many people who post here do not proofread their posts.

Lol, they define a 9% price hike as a "slight increase".

More journalistic integrity by posters on Tigerdroppings than contributors to the Advocate.
Better grammar as well. It's an absolute travesty some of the stuff that gets by whatever serves as an editor for that sorry excuse for a news rag.

What's the reason for this? We’re changing our billing cycle to 4 weeks to standardize our accounting. Monthly billing meant one price for different amounts of days depending on the month.

I cannot fathom people still pay for that woke garbage.
