Stay away from casualty law if you want to make any money...

It's the ones from Loyola that really crack me up. I can somewhat understand some of the Tulane 1Ls coming in with high hopes of getting a job in DC, NY, Chi, etc. the ones at Loyola have to accept that they are really only marketable in New Orleans.
Loyola has a decent name around the country. Loyola New Orleans isn't the best of Loyola's, but Loyola still has a decent name. Loyola Chicago is well known. I don't know if people distinguish between the different locations frankly. I can't say LSU is too well known outside of Louisiana.

Top 10% or don't waste your money unless you want to practice casualty law.

Are there any part time law or evening class programs?
I wouldn't mind getting a j.d. In case I ever needed to defend myself in court due to being accused of malpractice.

There are a lot of unaccredited law schools that offer that. For instance, in Birmingham we have the Birmingham School of Law. I think all of its classes are at night or on Saturday.

Don't practice law.
He's right. Practicing is for law school. DOING law is what real barristers do.

Cumberland has a half decent reputation in my experience. If I had to pick a "mid-major" law school in the SE, I'd probably go to Samford.
ETA: haha apparently someone is mad about me sticking up for Samford

If you ever find yourself in that predicament, you'll want an expert.

I'm a CPA but based on the way people talk about plumbers on this board I'd guess they are making about what a B4 specialty area partner makes

Self-loathing lawyers are funny. What other white-collar career options are there with the same earning potential after 3 years of school?

I've always found the big law or bust thing odd for a forum based in a state with virtually no big law outside of one city.
