There are things I would have done differently in hindsight, and maybe others on here can add their own advice, but this is one of the biggest for me.
Avoid Bar Study Loans like the plague.

Don't practice law.

You've already wasted three years of your life. Cut your losses.

Get a real job and find a way to contribute to society.

Any advice on how to find a job with grades in the fat part of the bell curve?

Go into plumbing. More work and money, and less need for posing as a player while being in debt and broke.

Some beautifully twisted genius actually invented this AND got suckers to take them?

This board's weird obsession with shite jobs like welding and plumbing is humorous

All you need to be a good lawyer is a complete set of Matlock tapes.

Know somebody. Or make better grades.

From which school did you graduate?

I've got a masters in tax law and did the law firm gig for several years doing M&A, estate planning, etc. Now I am CFO for a plumbing manufacturers rep. I make a lot more than I did at a law firm, and my schedule is no comparison to working at a law firm. I've been turkey hunting 3 days this week before work, when working at a firm I was lucky to go 3 Saturdays a season. I'm obviously not a plumber, but I definitely see good plumbers who make more money than some I graduated law school with

Plumbers are paid a lot because it is hard and nasty work. If you want to wade in shite in Louisiana heat, you'll probably get paid well.

Do literally anything but practice law.

Find an outlet for your stress. Practicing law is a thankless profession. You're going to get yelled at by your clients, opposing clients and opposing attorneys on a regular basis.
You're going to be subjected to mind boggling rulings by politically connected judges, many of whom have never tried a case in their life.
You're often going to feel like your drowning in a sea of briefs, motions and discovery. And you will know that these cases often involve a person's freedom or family.
If you can't find a way to deal with the stress, go ahead and do something else or prepare to become an alcoholic or drug addict.

I prefer the teachings of the My Cousin Vinny School of Law, with a little Liar, Liar thrown in.

Are we still talking about plumbers or did we switch back to lawyers?
