Find an outlet for your stress. Practicing law is a thankless profession. You're going to get yelled at by your clients, opposing clients and opposing attorneys on a regular basis.

You're going to be subjected to mind boggling rulings by politically connected judges, many of whom have never tried a case in their life.

You're often going to feel like your drowning in a sea of briefs, motions and discovery. And you will know that these cases often involve a person's freedom or family.

If you can't find a way to deal with the stress, go ahead and do something else or prepare to become an alcoholic or drug addict.

FWIW I spend like all day every day on the OT so I don't know what this dude is talking about

Credit scores are country specific, so if you move to another country, you don't have to pay back student loans.

well put, These things this poster mentioned run good council out of practice. This leaves us with those you see on tv. Law is one of the professions where it helps to be a sociopath.

Plumbers are paid a lot because it is hard and nasty work. If you want to wade in shite in Louisiana heat, you'll probably get paid well.

From the various times I have been in Louisiana courtrooms it looked like the lawyers were going be more in need of a shower after work than the plumbers.

CFO for plumbing adjacent company =/= being a plumber.

Being a CFO bears being a lawyer any day.

Query, when that plumber has a customer not pay them or gets injured on the job, who is the first person they are going to call? I'll hang up and listen.

Any advice on how to find a job with grades in the fat part of the bell curve?

But you're going to want to move fast on that because there are a lot of hungry people with liberal arts educations who also are finding out they have a worthless degree in an over-saturated field.

I'm obviously not a plumber, but I definitely see good plumbers who make more money than some I graduated law school with

No shite, plumbers and non-BIGLAW lawyers make about the same hourly rate in a lot of markets now.
