No, the cost to the cleanup is not fully covered either.

IS the tree done for? Not knowing that part of the world, and on the off chance that that tree is a value added to his lot, I'd contact a certified arborist for his advice. If the limbs were cut back, would the tree live. The main trunk may be healthy and there are roots there to support a large leafy number of branches. Your back yard is going to be pretty bare without it.

It looks like that evil tree in Poltergeist.

tree service after high school. Those guys make MONEY.
My uncle had one of the best run small time tree services in east TX for 25 years. He has retired OK but not well of by any means and has been frugal.
Equipment breakdowns almost everyday.
Typical low-wage employees failing to come into work or coming in hung over.
Insurance is high as giraffe arse.
He is one of the hardest workers I know of both physically and business. None of my 3 male cousins wanted anything to do with taking over their father's well established business. That should tell you something.

Insurance will pay to remove the tree off of the fence and some for haul off, but may not pay to remove the rest of the actual tree.

I doubt your insurance pays to have the tree cut down. They'll just cover the damage caused by the limb.

I’d cut it up myself after the power company did their thing. But I’m not a pussy

Get the tree removed. Insurance policies now seem to cover only after you pay up to a %age of the value of your house for the tree removal. Chances are this will all Be out of pocket for you.
As a second thought, I’d tackle that as a home project. Ask a knowledgeable friend to help out by making sure you know the pressure points. Seems doable as a DIY.

What kind of tree is that?
~Have utility remove all that they are willing.
~As previous poster said, call your county agent or arborist and see if the rest is healthy. I had a similar situation two months ago and the utility took the tree down, just left the stump. But I lost shade and my AC runs constantly.
So, consider saving the tree is healthy. And that will save you $.

I don’t know your level of expertise. You should check out Chainsaw Fails on Youtube. That horizontal piece connected to the trunk will kill you in a second if you are in the wrong position when you cut it.

Maple tree, at least 100+ years old. Biggest tree in my neighborhood. 70+ ft long

The policy owes a reasonable amount to removed the tree branch from the covered structure and then tree debris removal (there is a cap, typically of $500) plus the fence repair.
How much is your deductible? I bet it is not worth having the claim on your insurance for minimum damage.
ETA: insurance will not pay to remove the standing tree

Checked the policy and it's $1000 deductible.
I already filed a claim, but like you said earlier, it might not be worth. At least i want to get an estimate for fence repair and cleanup repair before going the insurance route.

Depends on your insurance deductible.
HO policies don’t have a lot of coverage available for tree debris removal.

Is the tree dead? It must be close to century old.
