It looks like that evil tree in Poltergeist.

What's left of it looks like a big assed slingshot that you could have fun getting retribution on that pesky neighbor that mows his grass at 7:00 AM on weekends.

Seriously, OP needs to take the whole thing down. He runs the risk of the rest of the tree splitting and damaging something else. I don't think it would be worth it to add support cables between the remaining two prongs.

does your little metal tin thing stop the squirrels on your bird feeder? I would chainsaw it down piece by piece with help; and save homeowners ins for other things.

Call tree removal service, and have them cut down the whole tree and pay the fees myself?
Or chop it down myself with a chainsaw, and request the junk removal service to pick the debris after I cut it down myself?

I would remove it myself but....

After seeing you ask about to "chopping" it down with a chainsaw....I would advise you call a service.

at this point that tree is no longer balanced so it wont be stable

call tree service or cut it yourself and then call for the free parish curb side tree branch removal

ut it yourself

This is a monster tree, Looks 10X bigger in real life than picture. At least 100ft long and extends over 3 yards.

The estimate I got for removal was $2500 +$250 stump removal, which is considerably cheap. 2nd estimate was $4500

One estimator said to just get rid of the fallen brach and leave the rest alone, but i am concerned it might not be stable. Second opinion guy said you can keep it but it is risky.

Didn't realize home insurance also go up after a claim, similar to a car claim

Thanks for pointing that out.
