Advice: Downed tree on my fence

I woke up this morning to the view of a huge chunk of my big beautiful backyard tree falling down, and partially damaging my fence (photos included).
I called xcell energy, since part of it fell on the power lines between poles, and they are coming to clear the power lines.
What's the best way to handle the situation?
File a home insurance claim since it damaged my fence and there is big chuck leaning towards my house?
Call tree removal service, and have them cut down the whole tree and pay the fees myself?
Or chop it down myself with a chainsaw, and request the junk removal service to pick the debris after I cut it down myself?
What would you do?

Manually place the roots better next time.

It’s a math problem. What would each cost and what’s your deductible.
Also what is your time worth.

I love cutting trees. In retrospect, I should have started a tree service after high school. Those guys make MONEY.

Fire up the chainsaw and get the ol lady to make a "Free Firewood" sign
Eta that fence is doneski. That is going to be a pretty decent expense to replace

I would first make sure the power lines are taken care of. I would then rent a chain saw and cut up the part that fell, then call a tree removal service to cut down the still standing tree. Or, if the tree service does it all at one price, do that.

I bet they pay a pretty penny for insurance.

Call insurance agent first.
Cut up downed limbs.
Prune tree of limbs that are questionable. May need a tree guy for that. Your call.
If you like the tree and where it was, if you prune it right, it will probably come back pretty quickly. It’s already got a good root structure.

Make a claim. Whennits all said and done, your cost will be thousands.
Cut tree down and have all roots removed or your yard will have a sink hole in the future.
Wierd tree...forked/split very low.

The insurer typically issue a claim for both the fence and an allowance for cleanup of the tree....call your homeowners insurance.

What state are you in?

Thanks
Another question, would the insurance cover the cost of cutting down the rest of the tree since it’s very hazardous to leave it that way?

I would call insurance

In Louisiana the insurer likely only covers removal of the PARTS of the tree that are ON covered property (fence and maybe the house if it’s touching the house). As well as whatever damage to covered property exists. But just a tree down in your yard will usually not be covered.
Your fence is expensive and will likely cover your deductible unless you have one of those shitty arse percentage deductibles.
ETA: not sure how it’s handled in Minnesota.

I'm willing to bet that the energy company would take it down for you since it could potentially danger their line again
